May 28, Saturday CONFESSIONS REVELATION 3:1-6

May 28, Saturday
                                                                CONFESSIONS
REVELATION 3:1-6

“...but I will acknowledge his name…”
Revelation 3:5

I will no longer confess impotence, because “I can do everything in Christ who strengthens me.”
I will no longer confess deficiency, because “my God will supply everything I lack according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
No longer will I confess fear, because “God has not given me a spirit of cowardice, but of power, of love, and of self-control.”
No longer will I confess doubt and lack of faith, because “God gave to each one a measure of faith.”
Never again will I confess lack of wisdom, because “Christ Jesus has been made God’s wisdom.”  I will no longer confess sickness, because “by his wounds I have been healed.”
Never again will I confess worries, because I am “casting all of my worries upon him, because he takes care of me.”
I will no longer confess slavery, because “where the Spirit of the Lord resides, there is freedom.”

Prayer: Father, I pray that the confessions of your sons and daughters may be acceptable to you. May our confessions always be a song of faithfulness to you!  Amen.

CONFESIÓN
APOCALIPSIS 3:1-6

“...y confesará su nombre…”
Apocalipsis 3:5

May 27, Friday DO NOT JUDGE MATTHEW 7:1-4

May 27, Friday
DO NOT JUDGE
MATTHEW 7:1-4

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged."
Matthew 7:1

“The more we love, the less we judge” is a valuable reflection by the French novelist Honoré de Balzac. Surely there is no judgment where love shines.  Our relationships are warm and friendly when we are tolerant of the faults of others and avoid hurtful criticism. Without tolerating abusiveness, we have the ability to be generous with others instead of condemning them as implacable judges.  The teachings of Jesus identify themselves with generosity, love and respect for others. That is why we need to be very careful with those who, “in God’s name,” judge all who have different beliefs, or those who are part of the same congregation but don’t act the way they think they should act.

It’s so sad to waste our time judging, criticizing those around us, be they church leaders or not! It’s so sad not to use the time that we have together for edifying our spirits with the Lord’s work!

We should beseech God to make us merciful, open to forgiveness and rich in understanding, to give us the courage to be slower to judge another person and to be quicker to pray, serve and to help them instead.

Good friends know how to archive their offenses; they do not keep track of wrongdoing and they have better appreciation for good qualities than for defects. There is harmony in our families when we exchange judgment for acts of kindness.  If we love we will not be judges of others. Let us live more and better lives by putting into practice the advice of the composer Franz Schubert: “Let us accept them as they are, not as we think they should be.”

Prayer: Lord, give us the love, the discernment and the humility we need in order to judge less and to serve more. Amen.

NO JUZGAR
MATEO 7:1-4

“No juzguéis, para que no seáis juzgados".
Mateo 7:1

May 26, Thursday I SEARCHED SO LONG FOR YOU… REVELATION 3:20-22

May 26, Thursday
I SEARCHED SO LONG FOR YOU…
REVELATION 3:20-22

“…and after the fire came a gentle whisper.”

I Kings 19:12
“Lord, I searched so long for you…but I couldn’t feel you.
I searched for you in my family’s religious tradition
I searched for you in the great cathedrals, in eloquent sermons
In the research, studies and opinions of theologians,
And of teachers
I searched for you in books, in human knowledge,
I searched for you in several religions, in their doctrines,
In the laws they taught me.
I searched for you in personal triumphs, in professional success,
In those “good relationships” that help,
That raise us up, that resolve our issues
I searched and searched for you…but I could not feel you.
And then one morning, almost at the crack of dawn, I finally felt you,
not in the miraculous way I’d expected, nor with noises.
Not with trumpets, but rather like a soft and tranquil whisper
An infinite peace calmed my being and my tears fell,
And then I had the most marvelous sensation,
so intimate and so difficult to describe,
I felt truly loved, just as I am,
And nothing else mattered.
Today I know that there are many ways to find you; there is no unique formula,
but that one way was mine.
Today I know that You love us and that you are there,
And you knock at our doors and call, and if we open our hearts to you,
You enter our lives and utterly fill them.
Lord, I searched so long for you
And you were right there all along.”

Prayer: Thank you Lord, for your loving and faithful companionship all the days of my life. Amen.

TE BUSQUÉ DURANTE TANTO TIEMPO…
APOCALIPSIS  3:20-22

I Reyes 19:12

May 25, Wednesday A MIRROR OF CHRISTIAN LIFE II TIMOTHY 3:14-17

May 25, Wednesday
A MIRROR OF CHRISTIAN LIFE
II TIMOTHY 3:14-17

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…”

II Timothy 3:16

When I was young, I did not use mirrors.  Occasionally, if I wanted to comb my hair, I would look at myself in the eyes of my companion in order to see my image.  Our eyes, just like mirrors, reflect images.

Studying the Bible is like looking in a mirror.  Those who wrote it received God’s inspiration.  When we read what the Scriptures tell us, we can see ourselves reflected in the stories of men and women of faith who show us their relationship with God. The stories in the Bible show us how God interacted with various generations.  The Bible gives us a vision of the life of a Christian.  When we look at ourselves through it, we can see whether what we are doing is right or wrong.  It guides us to make good decisions and to follow the steps of our Savior Jesus Christ.
As Paul wrote to Timothy, the Bible “is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” for a Christian’s life.

If we use the truths of the Bible as a guide for our daily lives, we will be prepared to do the good works that Jesus has called us to do. By studying the Bible, we learn to know God better and also to know ourselves better. Thus, let us pray for those who dedicate themselves to teaching the Bible.

Prayer: Oh God, give us hearts that love Your Word, minds that understand it, and eyes to see the principles within for our Christian lives. Amen.

ESPEJO DE VIDA CRISTIANA
II TIMOTEO  3:14-17

May 24, Tuesday COMMUNION IS LOVE I CORINTHIANS 11:23-26

May 24, Tuesday
COMMUNION IS LOVE
I CORINTHIANS 11:23-26

“And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘this is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’”
                                                                                                                                                                              I Corinthians 11:24

Communion is God’s great act of love because it is the continuation, the actualization of Jesus giving himself up for us on the cross. At the same time, it is the great act of fraternal love in which we are all united in Him and eat of the same bread.

Communion is thus the center of all Christian life, and in it the sacrifice of Jesus delineates a route in our lives. Communion is also the community gathered together around the table.  We all need to remain in his love, his strength, his peace and his joy.  We all need to remain in obedience to God. In this way, He and Jesus Christ will remain in us for always. This means that his living water, his bread of life, and his Holy Spirit will remain in us.

Each time that we take communion, let us do an analysis of our lives and our participation in the Church and in the community; let us renew our vows of faithfulness and let us approach Jesus Christ and all human beings with love.

The night before his crucifixion, Jesus Christ shared a meal with his disciples and expressed his desire for them to remember that He gave himself for us, and so that we would not forget him, he left us these visible symbols:  the bread and the cup.  And let us remember that he said: “Do this in remembrance of me.”

Prayer: Lord, help us to feel you in the bread and in the wine, and to not forget our commitment to our neighbor. Amen.

COMUNIÓN ES AMOR
I CORINTIOS 11:23-26

“Y habiendo dado gracias dijo: “Tomad, comed,
esto es mi cuerpo que por vosotros es partido;
haced esto en memoria de mí”.
                                                                                                                                                                              I Corintios 11:24

May 23, Monday LONGEVITY PSALM 39:4-5

May 23, Monday
LONGEVITY
PSALM 39:4-5

“My times are in your hands…”
Psalm 31:15

In many countries, medical advances in conjunction with the application of health care have made it possible to lengthen human life expectancy. Up until a short time ago this was between 70 and 80 years.  Today the number of people who reach the age of one hundred is growing, and even the age of 120 has been reported.

Nevertheless, regardless of our age, are we aware of the fragility of our lives?  Do we know if we will be alive tomorrow?  If we know that our lives are so ephemeral, why don’t we place them in God’s hands right this moment?  The Bible presents every person with the need to think about his or her eternal future.

For you who are still young, the Bible declares:  “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before …” (Ecclesiastes 12:1).  For you who are older and who have always avoided God’s calls to repent, the Bible solemnly says: “Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?” (Romans 2:4).  And to you, my brother or sister, who takes the time each day to read the pages of our devotional, perhaps because within them you find the nourishment you need in order to confront the daily struggle, or because it gives you the peace you so seek, but who still haven’t gone to Jesus to have life. Do it today.  Don’t wait until tomorrow because it may be too late.

Prayer: Lord, grant that our lives be long, in order to be able to testify about your great love. Amen.

LA LONGEVIDAD
SALMO 39:4-5

“En tu mano están mis tiempos”
Salmo 31:15

May 22, Sunday WHO IS JESUS CHRIST? MATTHEW 16:13-16

May 22, Sunday
WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
MATTHEW 16:13-16
“Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’”
Matthew 16:16

Who is Jesus Christ? There is no question that is more important than this one.  Some people even deny the historical existence of Jesus, while others say that he was only a prophet.

For those who still have doubts about who Jesus is, we encourage you to read the gospels that were inspired by people who knew Jesus during his life on earth.  The important thing to know is not what we say about Jesus, but what He declared about Himself and what He says about us.  Did you know that the name Jesus means “God saves”? Jesus wants to save us from eternal ruin, from slavery to evil; to free us from our anxieties, from doubt, from error and from all that is bad within us.

But in order for salvation to become a reality in our lives, our consciences must be awakened. We need to acknowledge our separation from God.  We have offended Him due to the wrongs we have committed. Let us set aside our prejudices and turn to Jesus with faith and trust.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant that we may speak to others about your life, your work and about what you offer us in order to make something better out of this world. Amen.

¿QUIEN ES JESUCRISTO?
MATEO 16:13-16
“Respondiendo Simón Pedro, dijo: Tú eres el Cristo,
el Hijo del Dios viviente”
Mateo 16:16
