FROM AFAR
NEHEMIAH 12:27-42
Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of
praise to God,
that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.

The Jews had become accustomed to seeing workers and
watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem, but now Nehemiah and Ezra appointed people
to worship on the new walls. They led a service of dedication with such
enthusiasm that their voices and songs were heard “from afar”. They
weren’t just professional musicians who voiced praise to God, but the women and
the children also who joined together in the singing. All had heard the Word,
(Neh. 12:43) and now it was only natural that they gave voice to their worship,
because learning God’s Word and worshiping the Lord should go together.
Every Sunday in our Church a group of African youth who are
studying in our country raise their voices in praise to the Lord. Such is the
devotion and reverence of these brothers and sisters that all of us in the
congregation feel inspired by their songs. Not just a few of us repeat the
songs enjoying not only their voices, but also their joy and their dancing,
feeling ourselves one in the Spirit with them who have come “from afar,” and together
with us they are the people of God. It makes no difference from where our
praise comes, from far or near, if our hearts are united in God, everyone will
hear us.
Prayer: Lord, we pray
for all the foreign youth who find themselves studying in our country; be with
them in their studies and bless them in their lives. We pray in the name of our
beloved Jesus. Amen.

Así que
ofrezcamos continuamente a Dios, por medio

Los judíos
se habían acostumbrado a ver obreros y vigilantes en los muros de Jerusalén,
pero ahora Nehemías y Esdras designaron personas que iban a adorar en los
nuevos muros. Dirigieron un servicio de dedicación con tal entusiasmo que sus
voces y cantos fueron oídos “desde lejos”. No fueron solamente los “músicos profesionales” los que
expresaron la alabanza a Dios, sino que las mujeres y los niños también se
unieron en los cantos. Todos habían escuchado la Palabra (Nehemías 12:43) y
ahora era natural que expresaran su adoración, porque aprender la Palabra de
Dios y adorar al Señor deben ir juntos.
En nuestra
Iglesia cada domingo un grupo de jóvenes africanos que estudian en nuestro
país, alzan sus voces en alabanza al Señor, es tal la devoción y reverencia de
estos hermanos y hermanas que todos en la congregación nos sentimos inspirados
con sus cantos y no somos pocos los que repetimos los estribillos disfrutando
no solo de sus voces, sino de su alegría, de su baile, sintiéndonos uno solo en
Espíritu con ellos que han venido “desde lejos” y ellos con nosotros en la
familia que somos, el pueblo de Dios. No importa desde dónde alabemos, lejos o
cerca, si nuestros corazones están unidos a Dios, todos nos escucharán.
Oración: Señor, te pedimos
por todos los jóvenes extranjeros que se encuentran estudiando en nuestro país,
acompáñalos en sus estudios, bendícelos en sus vidas. Por nuestro amado Jesús
te lo pedimos. Amén.
