GENTLE HANDS

Philippians 2:14-16

Do everything without grumbling and arguing…

Philippians 2:14(CEB)

Every muscle in my body hurt this evening when I arrived home after work.  I had been standing for almost the whole day.  I had a great deal of pain in my feet.

As I arrived home, my oldest son met me.  I went into the house, fell on the sofa next to him and took off my shoes.  Without my realizing it, my son took my feet and began to massage them.              I quickly took them away.  They were dirty and sweaty.  But he continued rubbing my feet with his big, gentle hands, talking and listening to how my day had been.  I thanked him for this act of love that he showed me.

When the Lord confronts me with disagreeable situations and asks for my help, I remember this scene.  I breathe deeply and I see how God gave me hands and feet to serve and to help.

With these acts of service, the Lord reminds me that I too must love and comfort.

Prayer: Lord, just as you place people in my path to help me, let me serve as a help to those who need me, although it may be doing something unenjoyable.  Amen.

MANOS TIERNAS

Filipenses 2:14-16

Háganlo todo sin quejas ni contiendas…

Filipenses 2:14

FAITHFUL BROTHERS AND SISTERS

Romans 12:5

If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part gets the glory, all the parts celebrate with it.

1 Corinthians 12:26 (CEB)

While I stood at the front of my congregation, I was told that my mother was ill.  I had to leave the province to be able to be with her. Nevertheless, I had numerous tasks to attend to at the church before leaving.

Then multiple brothers and sisters came by me and offered to help me.  They took charge of everything. I was able to arrive in time to be with my mother.  She died a few hours after I arrived.  Thanks to those brothers and sisters, I could be with her in her final minutes.

Upon returning to the church some days later, I realized that my tasks had been faithfully completed.  And not only this, they had a group praying for our family.  I am grateful for the way they showed me their love and helped me during the following days.  I always was the strong one.  This time they insisted that it was their turn.  When I was weak and filled with pain, they understood.

I give thanks for the incredibly dedicated members in our family of God.

Prayer: Bless these beloved and faithful brothers and sisters, Lord.  Amen.

HERMANOS FIELES

Romanos 12:5

MOTIVATED BY COMPASSION

Philippians 2:3-4

Instead of each person watching out for their own good, watch out for what is better for others.

Philippians 2:4 (CEB)

There are multiple people in our church who have a mental or physical disability.

As a pastor, my day is normally filled up with tasks.  It doesn’t matter how much I try to advance the day before, I am always in a hurry.

Often in this time of hurry, these church members stop me and begin to converse with me.  There I see the presence of God. Although the lack of time frustrates me, I feel that God speaks to me through those who detain me and I am worried about the sincere needs of those who are going through difficult times, trying to understand and looking for a solution to different situations.

In some way, the Lord helps me to back up and see these people as unique in God’s eyes.  This is the way Jesus worked–he stopped in front of the one who needed him.  It was not important how urgent other situations were that demanded his presence.

Let us remember that, even so, these persons also have much to offer.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for those who are disabled in some way.  Thank you for love and dedication to each one.  Amen.

MOTIVO DE COMPASION

Filipenses 2:3-4
