GIFTS

Philippians  4: 10-20

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13 (NRSV)

            We live in difficult times, when material things hinder people’s minds, making them selfish.  Therefore Paul tells them in his letter to the Philippians that riches are not to be trusted, but they are prosperity from God, who supplies according to his wealth in glory.

            Let us convert these words into illumination, allowing us to understand the will of God.  We can obtain riches, but not trust in them. Provided with Christ’s feelings, we will always keep ourselves humble, even if we are blessed by riches.

            Here we are assured that if we look in the direction of the Word of God, then through Christ we can enjoy that which he gives us, but our trust will only rest in the Lord. 

            Such faith is made up of a stimulating trust in the absolute sufficiency of Christ in all circumstances of life, as much in the material as in the spiritual circumstances.

 

Prayer: Lord, guide us through your Word and help us to stay humble and trusting, recognizing that all good gifts come from you.  Amen,

DADIVAS

Filipenses  4: 10-20

Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece.

Filipenses 4:13

            Vivimos tiempos difíciles, donde lo material entorpece la mente de las personas, los vuelve egoístas. Por eso Pablo les dice en su carta a los Filipenses que las riquezas no son para confiar en ellas, son prosperidad de Dios, quien suple conforme a sus riquezas en gloria.

            Permitamos que estas palabras se conviertan en una luz que nos haga comprender la voluntad de Dios. Podemos obtener riquezas, pero no confiar en ellas. Provistos del sentir de Cristo, siempre nos mantendremos humildes, si es que llegamos a ser bendecidos por riquezas.

            Aquí se nos asegura que si buscamos la dirección de la Palabra de Dios, entonces a través de Cristo podremos disfrutar de lo que nos da, pero nuestra confianza sólo descansará en el Señor.

            Tal fe constituye un estimulante para confiar en la absoluta suficiencia de Cristo en todas las circunstancias de la vida, tanto materiales, como espirituales.

 

Oración: Señor, guíanos mediante tu Palabra y ayúdanos a mantenernos humildes y confiados, reconociendo que toda buena dádiva proviene de Ti. Amén.

FULL TRUST IN THE LORD

Psalm 4

Deliverance belongs to the Lord; may your blessing be on your people! 

Psalm 4:8 (NRSV)

            Countless people in the world live devoid of peace.  This psalm is an exhortation to turn our trust to God and to change our attitude. 

            We know that God listens to us because we are set aside for Him. This is the best answer to all our worries: all believers in Christ can have this same trust.  We should accept the redemption of God and trusting, search for a deeper communion with God.

            The Lord gives us a happiness better than any joy that comes from material abundance. God provides the material goods and wants us to enjoy them but getting them should not be the objective of our lives.  As God provides, let us accept and trust in this truth. 

            Therefore, the psalmist says in peace I lie down and in peace I will sleep, because he lives in the full confidence that God cares, sustains and guides him.

            In this same way, we make this psalm as if it were ours, and we place all of our trust in the All Powerful Lord.  He will continue being our sustainer.

 

Prayer: Beloved Father, help us to strengthen our faith in you, so that it may be unbreakable.  Amen.

PLENA CONFIANZA EN EL SEÑOR

Salmo  4

En paz me acostaréé y así mismo dormiré, porque solo tú Jehová, me haces vivir confiado.

Salmo 4:8

            Innumerables personas en el mundo viven desprovistas de paz. Este salmo es una exhortación a depositar nuestra confianza en Dios y cambiar de actitud.

            Sabemos que Dios nos escucha porque nos ha apartado para Él. Ésta es la mejor respuesta a todas las angustias; todo creyente en Cristo puede tener esta misma confianza. Debemos aceptar la redención de Dios y confiar, buscar una comunión más profunda.

            El Señor nos da una alegría mayor que cualquier gozo que se derive de alguna abundancia material. Dios provee los bienes materiales y quiere que disfrutemos de ellos, pero conseguirlos no debe ser el objetivo en nuestras vidas. Dios provee, aceptemos y confiemos en esa verdad.

            Por eso el salmista dice en paz me acostaré y así mismo dormiré, porque vive en la plena confianza que Dios lo cuida, lo sustenta y lo guía.

            De esa misma manera, hagamos este salmo como nuestro, y depositemos toda nuestra confianza en el Señor Todopoderoso; Él seguirá siendo nuestro sustentador.

 

Oración: Padre amado, ayúdanos a fortalecer nuestra fe en ti, para que ésta sea inquebrantable. Amén.

MORE THAN CONQUERORS

Romanos  8: 26-39

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28 (NRSV)

            God makes it possible that all things, not just isolated incidents, redound to our good. That does not mean that all that happens to us is good, because evil continues to prevail in our world, but God can change all circumstances to favor us. He makes evil turn to our benefit when we know to trust and hope in his designs.

            Keep in mind that God is not occupied with making us happy, but in fulfilling his purposes. This promise is for all who love God and form a part of his divine plans. Those called are the ones that the Holy Spirit convinces and allows to receive Christ. We can all be one of those called since the Son of God came in order that all might receive his grace.

            People who receive this blessing have a new perspective, a new mentality in life; they trust God, not in the treasures of life; they search for his security in what is eternal not in the temporal. They learn to accept pain and persecution, not to lament them, because God is with them and works in the midst of such circumstances.

 

Prayer: Lord, allow our hearts to accept and to love you, with the only goal of trusting you and serving you always. Amen.

MAS QUE VENCEDORES

Romanos  8: 26-39

Y sabemos que a los que aman a Dios, todas las cosas les ayudan a bien, esto es, a los que conforme a su propósito son llamados.

Romanos 8:28

            Dios hace posible que todas las cosas, no solo incidentes aislados, redunden en nuestro bien. Esto no significa que todo lo que nos pasa es bueno, porque lo malo sigue prevaleciendo en nuestro mundo, pero Dios es capaz de cambiar todas las circunstancias a nuestro favor, Él hace que del mal se obtenga un beneficio cuando sabemos confiar y esperar en sus designios.

            Tenga presente que Dios no está ocupado en hacernos felices,  sino en cumplir sus propósitos. Esta promesa es para todos los que aman a Dios y forman parte de sus planes divinos. Los llamados son todos los que el Espíritu Santo convence y permite que reciban a Cristo. Todos podemos ser uno de los llamados, pues el Hijo de Dios vino para que todos recibamos de su gracia

            Las personas que reciben esta bendición tienen una nueva perspectiva, una nueva mentalidad en la vida, confían en Dios, no en los tesoros de la vida, buscan su seguridad en lo eterno, no en lo temporal. Aprenden a aceptar el dolor y la persecución, no a lamentarlos,  porque Dios está con ellos y actuando en medio de tales circunstancias.

 

Oración: Señor, permite que nuestros corazones te acepten y te amen, con el único propósito de confiar en ti y servirte siempre. Amén.

Anniversary of the World Council of Churches

GOD GIVES RESTORATION

Jeremiah 33: 1-16

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known

Jeremiah 33:3 (NRSV)

            At the beginning of this text we are told that Jeremiah was in prison, but the Word of God was not there. God’s purpose at that time was to restore Jerusalem. For that God told him, Call to me and I will answer you; he assured Jeremiah that all he had to do was to ask, and God would act.

            The same promise is offered to us today. God is prepared to respond to our prayers, but we must ask for his help. Surely God can take care of our needs without our asking; but when we do that, we recognize that only HE is God and that we cannot accomplish with our own strength that which is in God’s domain to do.

            When we pray, we must humble ourselves, set aside our worries and be obedient only to God. When we open our hearts so that God can enter and establish there his Reign, then we will live with the certainty that however often we call on him, God will respond and restore us according to his good will, that which Scripture affirms is pleasing and perfect.

 

Prayer: Lord, whenever we call on you, may we obtain the response that we need for our well-being. Amen.

Aniversario del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias

DIOS DA RESTAURACION

Jeremías 33: 1-16

Clama a mí y yo te responderé y te enseñaré cosas grandes y ocultas que tú no conoces.

Jeremías 33:3

            Al inicio del texto se nos dice que Jeremías estaba preso, pero la Palabra de Dios, no lo estaba. El propósito de Dios en ese momento era restaurar Jerusalén. Por eso Dios le dice: Clama a mí y yo te responderé; le aseguró que sólo tenía que pedir y Él actuaría.

            Lo mismo nos está prometiendo a nosotros hoy. Él está listo para responder a nuestras oraciones, pero debemos pedir su ayuda, con seguridad, Dios puede ocuparse de nuestras necesidades sin que se lo pidamos;  pero cuando lo hacemos reconocemos que sólo Él es Dios y que no podemos lograr con nuestras propias fuerzas aquello que está en su dominio hacer.

            Cuando pedimos debemos humillarnos, echar a un lado nuestra preocupación y obedecerle sólo a Él. Debemos abrir nuestros corazones para que pueda entrar y ahí establecer su Reino, así viviremos con la certeza de que siempre que lo invoquemos, Él nos responderá y nos restaurará, según su buena voluntad, esa que la Escritura afirma es agradable y perfecta.

 

Oración: Permite Señor que siempre que clamemos a ti, obtengamos la respuesta que necesitamos para nuestro bien. Amén.
