The Peace of God

2 Thessalonians 3:16

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (NIV)

The peace of God is the fruit of the Holy Spirit that when it comes into our minds, anxiety goes away. The peace of God is greater than our understanding, surpassing all our reason.

Paul invited the Church of Thessalonica to enjoy the Peace of God in spite of the difficult circumstances he was facing, being imprisoned. Others had abandoned them and in spite of this, he rested in the Peace of God.

We see and hear things that give us anxiety, yet Paul invites us to enjoy the Peace of God, because only in it can our hearts be guarded from all anxiety. However, the Peace of God is available in Christ Jesus. Separated from Christ, the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in us. And if the Holy Spirit is not within our lives, neither will we have peace.

Prayer: Spirit of Life, surround us with your presence and your precious peace forever. Amen.

La Paz de Dios

2 Tesalonicenses 3:16

In Word and Deed

2 Thessalonians 2: 14-17

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

2 Thessalonians 2: 16-17 (NIV)

Once again Paul encourages the brothers and sisters in Thessalonica. He reminds them that God himself called them and made them part of his family through Christ. Now it was up to them to hold fast to the teachings they had learned. It was the time for them to be encouraged to say and do what was good.

This exhortation is valid for us. God calls us to retain the teachings that we have learned, that everything good we say be put to practice in our daily lives, the words become true deeds, and the message from our lips and hands be the same. Let us take what we receive from God to those who need it, for his goodness is not exhausted.

Prayer: God of love, encourage us to be messengers of goodness. May our lips sing of your goodness and our hands always be full of your love. Amen.

En palabras y hechos

2Tesaonicenses 2: 14-17

Believing Together in Love

2 Thessalonians 1: 1-5, 11-12

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.

2 Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV)

Paul prayed constantly for the strength of his brothers and sisters in this church; he was their spiritual father. His patience and growing faith in God was present in his daily life. They had persevered in the midst of difficult situations, and this was a reason for Paul to rejoice. He thanked God for their example. Their spiritual growth was reflected in their growing love for each other.

And so it should be; may we help each other to grow in love and faith. May our strength enable us to support each other in the midst of all circumstances as true sisters and brothers. The church is a family; we should see ourselves as members committed to brotherly love with a sincere relation that attracts others to be part of it. Let us fulfill the Lord’s call by serving as an example to many.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for the family of faith. Help us to grow each day in love. Amen.

Creciendo juntos en el amor

2 Tesalonicenses 1: 1-5, 11-12
