LET US HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD AND ACT ACCORDING TO HIS WILL

Matthew 2: 13 - 18

…an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

The daily reality is that we hear a lot, listen less, and pay little attention. That is why we do not succeed in doing God’s will. The text of Matthew’s gospel tells us how Joseph listened to God’s voice and acted according to his message and will.

Those who listen use their sense of hearing. Those who listen apply their intellect to understand what they hear. This is Joseph’s practice, he listens attentively, understands the message and acts according to what was revealed to him.

It is very important that we learn to listen to the voice of God. This will allow us to act according to His will. In this way we will develop values such as empathy, solidarity, mercy, justice, and love, and lead us to a better understanding and collaboration with our neighbor.

Prayer: God of love and mercy, bless us with the ability to listen attentively to you so that we may act according to your will. In the name of your son, Jesus. Amen.

ESCUCHEMOS LA VOZ DE DIOS Y ACTUEMOS SEGÚN SU VOLUNTAD

Mateo 2: 13 - 18

…un ángel del Señor se apareció en sueños a José y le dijo: Levántate, toma al niño y a su madre y huye a Egipto; quédate allí hasta que yo te avise, porque Herodes va a buscar al niño para matarlo

La realidad cotidiana dice que se oye mucho, se escucha menos, se atiende poco. Por eso no logramos hacer la voluntad de Dios. El texto del evangelio de Mateo nos narra como José escuchó la voz de Dios y actúa según su mensaje y voluntad.

Quien escucha pone en ejercicio el sentido del oído. Quien atiende aplica el intelecto para comprender lo que oye. Es la práctica de José, él escucha con atención, entiende el mensaje y actúa según lo que se le había revelado.

Es muy importante que aprendamos a escuchar la voz de Dios, esto nos permitirá actuar según su voluntad y de esta manera desarrollaremos valores como la empatía, la solidaridad, la misericordia, la justicia, el amor, lo que nos conducirá a un mejor entendimiento y colaboración con nuestro prójimo.

Oración: Dios de amor y misericordia, bendícenos con la capacidad de escucharte con atención para actuar conforme a tú voluntad. En el nombre de tú hijo Jesús. Amén.

IN JESUS OUR JOY IS COMPLETE

1 John 1: 1 – 4

We write this to make our joy complete.

1 John 1:4 (NIV)

At Christmastime, the approaching end of the year and the advent of a new one can be enough reasons for joy, but to these we can add: church activities with children and young people, decorating the churches and homes, popular activities and family gatherings. Joy comes with feelings of happiness, pleasure or satisfaction. It is an emotion that drives us to seek out and experience the good things in life and can have positive effects on our mental and physical health.

The text of the first letter of the Apostle John tells its recipients about his joy at the possibility of being able to share the message of salvation, inspired by the life of the Christ sent by God. Of these events, the author claims to have been an eyewitness and shares these experiences, hoping that the result will be the same joy they have, for having received Him in their lives before.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank you for calling us and teaching us to live joyfully in the love that you show us in the fragility of a child born to us. In Jesus we pray. Amen.

EN JESÚS NUESTRA ALEGRÍA ES COMPLETA

1 Juan 1: 1 – 4

Os escribimos esto para que nuestra alegría sea completa

1 Juan 1:4

La navidad, la cercanía del fin de año y el advenimiento de uno nuevo pudieran ser suficientes motivos, pero a estos podemos agregar: actividades de la iglesia con niños y jóvenes, engalanamiento de los templos y casas, actividades populares, reuniones familiares. La alegría viene acompañada de la sensación de felicidad, placer o satisfacción. Es una emoción que nos impulsa a buscar y experimentar cosas buenas en la vida, y que puede tener efectos positivos en nuestra salud mental y física.

El texto de la 1ra carta del Apóstol Juan cuenta a sus receptores sobre su alegría ante la posibilidad de poder compartir el mensaje de salvación, inspirado en la vida del Cristo enviado de Dios. De estos acontecimientos el autor dice haber sido testigo presencial y transmite estas experiencias, esperando que el resultado que se produzca sea la misma alegría que ellos tienen, por haberle recibido en sus vidas anteriormente.

Oración: Amado Señor, agradecemos que nos convoques y enseñes a vivir gozosamente en el amor que nos manifiestas en la fragilidad de un niño que nos nace. En Jesús te lo pedimos. Amén.

THE POWER OF CONSISTENCY

Acts 6: 8-10

But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.

Acts 6:10 (NIV)

There is nothing that can resist the strength of that which is authentic, real, and true. It is true that in the midst of so many falsehoods, so many masks, being honest has its costs. But even so, the deal is we must always be faithful to what we believe and be consistent with the path we decide to follow. The Christian life is full of challenges, but the only way to overcome them is to not allow ourselves to be convinced to live half-heartedly or superficially. Stephen, when he had the opportunity to show his vocation, the strength of his calling, had to face opposition, contradictions, and aggressions. But, he never abandoned the path that he was determined to follow. He is an example of fidelity, of consistency, of total dedication to the cause of the Gospel and this is what led him to his death. Today we need Christian people committed to true justice, service, capable of bringing healing and hope to those who most need it. We do not need facade Christians, but followers of Jesus who feel the Christian vocation as a vocation of life. Perhaps today is a good day to look inside ourselves, to leave out everything that tarnishes the true Gospel and fills us with everything we need to resume the path that Jesus proposes for us.

Prayer: God of Life, give us the knowledge and the constancy to always respond to your call. Amen.

LA FUERZA DE LA COHERENCIA

Hechos 6, 8-10

… pero no eran capaces de enfrentarse a la sabiduría y al Espíritu con que hablaba.

Hechos 6.10

No hay nada que pueda resistir la fuerza de lo auténtico, de lo real, de lo verdadero. Es cierto, que en medio de tantas falsedades, tantas máscaras, ser honesto tiene costos, pero aun así, la apuesta debe ser siempre por ser fiel a lo que creemos y ser consecuentes con el camino que decidimos seguir. La vida cristiana está llena de retos, la única manera de superarlos es no dejarnos convencer de vivir a medias o superficialmente. Esteban, cuando tuvo la oportunidad de mostrar su vocación, la fuerza de su llamado, tuvo que enfrentar oposiciones, contradicciones, agresiones, pero nunca abandonó el camino que estaba determinado a seguir, es un ejemplo de fidelidad, de coherencia, de entrega total a la causa del Evangelio y esto lo llevó a la muerte. Hoy necesitamos un pueblo cristiano comprometido con la verdadera justicia, abocado al servicio, capaz de llevar sanidad y esperanza a quienes más lo necesitan, no necesitamos cristianos de fachada, sino seguidoras y seguidores de Jesús que sientan la vocación cristiana, como vocación de vida, quizás hoy es un buen día para mirarnos por dentro dejar fuera todo lo que empaña el verdadero Evangelio y llenarnos de todo lo que necesitamos para retomar el camino que Jesús nos está proponiendo.

Oración:  Dios de la Vida, danos la sabiduría y la constancia para siempre responder a tu llamado. Amén.
