CHRISTIAN OPTIMISM
JOHN 6:16-21
“… and they were terrified.”
John 6:19
Among your friends and acquaintances there are surely some
who see everything through dark lenses. The darkness of their pessimism extends
to their assessments and they cast a shadow over those around them. It’s not a
matter of a single issue or a specific situation, but rather an entire view of
life. It is true that there are few
people of a melancholic temperament and who are prone to tragedy, but many people
cover themselves with the gloomy mantle of pessimism for lack of faith, because
they believe neither in their own potential nor in the things that God can do
in our lives.
There
are of course many times when our plans work out poorly, or when we are not
able to immediately find a solution for many of our problems. Perhaps we are going through a difficult
period. But if we do not allow the grief
to take away our joint vision, if we trust in the master plan of God the
Father, if we are willing to work together to build his Kingdom, we will find
meaning and reason for optimism. We are not living in the best of possible
worlds; we are called to make the world a better place. Through the cross, Jesus Christ changed the
course toward optimism.
Prayer: Lord, help us to
be optimistic toward life. Amen.
EL OPTIMISMO

Entre tus amigos y
compañeros probablemente hay algunos que ven todo con los cristales oscuros. La
oscuridad de su pesimismo la extienden a sus apreciaciones y ensombrecen los de los que la rodean. No se trata de un
asunto o situación determinada, sino de todo el horizonte de la vida. Es verdad
que un reducido número de personas tienen un temperamento de base melancólico y
son dados a lo trágico, pero muchas personas se cubren con el manto tenebroso
del pesimismo por la falta de fe, por no creer en sus propias potencialidades
ni en las cosas que Dios puede hacer en nuestras vidas.
Por supuesto que muchas veces nos sale mal un plan, o de momento no entrevemos soluciones a muchos problemas.
Quizás atravesamos un período difícil. Pero si no dejamos que el pesar quite la
visión de conjunto, si confiamos en el plan maestro de Dios Padre, si nos
disponemos a colaborar en la construcción del Reino, hallaremos sentido y razón
para el optimismo. No vivimos en el mejor de los mundos posibles, porque
estamos llamados a perfeccionarlo. Jesucristo abrió en la cruz el cambio hacia
el optimismo.
Oración: Señor, ayúdanos a ser optimistas ante la vida. Amén.
