World Day of the Sick and Ill
LOVE THOSE WHO ARE ILL
JAMES 5:14-15
“I was sick and you looked after me…”
Matthew 25:36
Two sick men were sharing the
same hospital room. The bed of one patient was by the room’s only window. And
when he was seated in his bed, he would spend his hour of treatment describing
the beautiful scenes and pretty landscapes that he could see through his
bedside window. The other sick man
listened attentively and gratefully to the spirited descriptions. One day, the
nurse entered the hospital room and found the lifeless body of the sick man by
the window. A while later, the other
sick man asked to be moved over to the bed next to the window, and the nurse
granted his request. The sick man was surprised to find an enormous white wall
in front of the window and asked angrily why his companion had made up these
scenes. “It would have been impossible
for him to have seen them,” replied the nurse; “Your companion was blind. He made it all up surely because he wanted to
communicate to you the joy of living.”
Bringing happiness to others is the secret of one’s own happiness. Pain and sorrow which is shared is reduced by
half, but shared happiness is twice multiplied.
Prayer: Lord, you healed the sick with love. Today we ask that,
by your great mercy, you teach us to love the sick and to care for them in
their pain. We ask these things now through
Jesus Christ. Amen.

Jornada Mundial del Enfermo
AMA AL
ENFERMO
SANTIAGO
5:14-15
“Cuando estuve enfermo, me visitaron”
Mateo 25:36
dolor. Te suplicamos ahora por Jesucristo. Amén.
