WHERE IS PEACE?

Philippians 4:4-9

“And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:7 (NIV)

            I remember the first Workshop on Theological Studies and Spirituality I attended, organized by a non-govermental center. On the last day, a Brazilian theologian took us to Lenin Park at an elevation where the sound of nature predominated. Through a relaxation exercise, he gradually led us to an ecstasy of peace to such a degree that we burst in to hugs and tears of joy.  Years later, I met many of the atheists of that time who were attending churches because they decided to seek that Peace.

            I have seen documentaries of people who go to different parts of the world seeking peace by taking courses, meditation and following various rites. All this is transitory because when facing true reality they feel alone. Certainly God’s peace is unique and unthinkable that it be gotten in a pharmacy, hospital or for the largest amount of money in the world. The one who gives it free is the Son of God when we open or hearts so he may dwell through the Holy Spirit.

 

Prayer:  God of Peace who gave peace to us freely when we decided to give ourselves to You, thank you for the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Keep giving us that peace that all humanity longs for. In His name. Amen

¿DONDE ESTA LA PAZ?

Filipenses 4:4-9

“Así Dios les dará su paz, que es mas grande de lo que el hombre puede entender; y esta paz cuidará sus corazones y sus pensamientos por medio de Cristo Jesús”

            Recuerdo el Primer Taller de Estudios Teológicos y Espiritualidad al que asistí, organizado por un centro no gubernamental. El último día, un teóólogo brasileño nos llevó al Parque Lenin, a una elevación donde predominaba el sonido de la naturaleza. A través de un ejercicio de relajamiento nos fue conduciendo poco a poco a un éxtasis de paz de tal grado que irrumpimos en lágrimas de gozo y abrazos que nunca habíamos experimentado. Años después, me encontré con muchos de los ateos de entonces, que estaban asistieno a Iglesias pues decidieron buscar esa Paz.

            He visto documentales de gente que se dirigen a diferentes lugares del mundo buscando paz tomando cursos, meditaciones y siguiendo diversos ritos. Todo eso es transitorio pues al enfrentar la verdadera realidad se sienten solos/as. Ciertamente la Paz de Dios es una paz única e impensable conseguirla en una farmacia, hospital, ni por la cantidad de dinero más grande del mundo. Quien la da gratis es el Hijo de Dios cuando le abrimos nuestros corazones para que more a través del Espíritu Santo.

 

Oración: Dios de la Paz, que nos la diste gratuitamente cuando decidimos entregarnos a Ti, gracias por la gracia en el Señor Jesucristo. Sigue dándonos esa Paz que anhela toda la Humanidad. En su nombre. Amén.
