May No Evil Touch Your Skin

John 17,12-19

I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one.

John 17.15 (NRSV)

The world that we know is crammed full of evil, and being Christians does not exempt us from that. We cannot live isolated as in a sterilized bubble, preventing evils from touching our skin because that would be inconsistent with our mission which is aimed at understanding that it is in the midst of these times that we must demonstrate our spiritual stability. Jesus knew this and asks God to take care of us but without removing us from the world, which invites us to reflect on how we live our faith in an environment that can often be challenging and which encourages us to trust in God’s protection.

We must wash our skin with the water of life to cleanse ourselves and prevent evil from reaching deeper and touching our hearts. It is in this world that we must be faithful to the word and reflect the love of Jesus to those who do not see evil even in front of their noses.

Prayer: Lord, let us remain firm in the face of evil and temptaion. Keep us from evil in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Que el mal no toque tu piel

Juan 17,12-19

No ruego que los quites del mundo, sino que los guardes del mal

Juan 17.15

El mundo que conocemos esta atestado de maldad y ser cristianos no nos deja exentos de esto. No podríamos vivir apartados como en una burbuja esterilizada evitando que los males toquen nuestra piel porque estaríamos siendo incoherentes con nuestra misión que está encaminada a entender que es en medio de estos tiempos que debemos demostrar nuestra estabilidad espiritual. Jesús sabía esto y pide a Dios que nos cuide pero sin apartarnos del mundo lo que nos invita a reflexionar sobre cómo vivimos nuestra fe en un entorno que a menudo puede ser desafiante lo que nos anima a confiar en la protección de Dios

Debemos lavar con agua de vida nuestra piel para limpiarnos y evitar que el mal llegue más profundo y toque nuestros corazones. Es habitando este mundo donde debemos ser fieles a la palabra y reflejar el amor de Jesús para aquellos que no ven el mal aun en frente de sus narices.

Oración: Señor permítenos permanecer firmes ante el mal y las tentaciones. Guárdanos del mal en el nombre de Jesús.

Be One

John 17. 20 -26

....hat they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us....

John 17.21 (NRSV)

Unity is shown as a challenge on a thousand and one occasions; it is something challenging, especially knowing that everyone has their own way of being and acting.

Jesus prays that all may be one as he and the Father are one. This unity is not only a desire for apparently superficial harmony, it is an invitation to feel a genuine spiritual connection which reflects the profound relation of God with his creation. Let’s remember that as followers of Christ we are called to live in community, supporting and loving each other, despite our differences. Where there is love there cannot be disunity. Let us be companions, friends, brothers of the way, united in the name of the one who united himself to us, gave himself to us in the name of the Lord.

Our life in community has a purpose: being a witness to God’s love for the world. In doing so, we not only fortify our own faith, we also invite others to recognize and feel that transforming love.

Prayer: United in your name, Lord, we will have peace and love. Amen.

Sean uno

Juan 17,20 -26

....para que todos sean uno; como tú, oh Padre, en mí, y yo en ti, que también ellos sean uno en nosotros....

Juan 17.21

La unidad se muestra como reto en mil y una ocasión, es algo desafiante y más sabiendo que cada quien tiene una manera especial de ser y actuar.

Jesús ora para que todos sean uno, así como Él y el Padre son uno. Esta unidad no es solo un deseo de armonía aparentemente superficial es una invitación a experimentar una genuina conexión espiritual que refleja la profunda relación entre el Dios y su creación.   Recordemos hoy que, como seguidores de Cristo, estamos llamados a vivir en comunidad, apoyándonos y amándonos mutuamente, a pesar de nuestras diferencias. Donde hay amor, no puede haber desunión. Seamos compañeros, amigos, hermanos del caminos unidos en el nombre de quien se unió a nosotros, se dio a nosotros en el nombre del Señor.

Nuestra vida en comunidad tiene un propósito: ser un testimonio del amor de Dios al mundo. Al hacerlo, no solo fortalecemos nuestra fe, sino que también invitamos a otros a conocer y experimentar ese amor transformador

Oración: Unidos en tu nombre Señor, paz y amor tendremos. Amén.

The Power of Prayer

John17: 20-26

“I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word. . . .”

John 17:20 (NRSV)

Intercession is an act of love and compassion. When we pray for others, we are lifting their needs before God, recognizing that we are not only concerned about ourselves but even more about the spiritual and emotional well-being of those around us; it is important to start looking well beyond our own needs and consider the needs of others. Our ability to intercede for others comes from our relationship with Christ.

That has a transforming effect in our own lives. In praying for those around us we are challenged to abandon our egocentrism and to cultivate a heart filled with love and compassion; we remind ourselves that we are part of a larger body where each member has a vital role to play. Our ability to intercede for others comes from our relationship with Christ. As we grow in our faith and in our  intimacy with him, our desire to pray for others also grows.

Prayer: Lord, I ask you to reach out your healing hand over the sick, that you give comfort to those who are afflicted, and that you brighten the path of those who feel lost. Amen.

El poder de la oración.

Juan 17: 20-26

“Mas no ruego solamente por estos, sino también por los que han de creer en mí por la palabra de ellos.”

La intercesión es un acto de amor y compasión. Cuando oramos por otros, estamos llevando sus necesidades ante adiós, reconociendo que no solo nos preocupamos por nosotros mismos, sino también por el bienestar espiritual y emocional de quienes nos rodean, es importante dejar de mirar más allá de nuestras propias necesidades y considerar las de los demás.

Tiene un efecto transformador en nuestras propias vidas. Al orar por los demás, somos desafiados a salir de nuestro egocentrismo y a cultivar un corazón lleno de amor y compasión, nos recordamos a nosotros/as mismos que somos parte de un cuerpo más grande, donde cada miembro tiene un papel vital. Nuestra capacidad para interceder por otros proviene de nuestra relación con Cristo. A medida que crecemos en nuestra fe y en nuestra intimidad con Él, también se expande nuestro deseo de orar por los demás.

Oración: Señor, te pido que extiendas tu mano sanadora sobre los enfermos, que les des consuelo a los que están afligidos y que ilumines el camino de aquellos que se sienten perdidos. Amén.

Ascension Day

When Faith Becomes Trust

John 16: 29-33

I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!”

John 16:33 (NRSV)

Having confidence in God doesn’t mean that we won’t meet problems; rather it implies that despite those problems, we can find peace and strength in our faith. Jesus invites us to believe in his power and to remember that, despite having adverse circumstances, he is with us and has  taught us through his word not to be discouraged.

In times of uncertainty, this passage reminds us that we must hold on to our faith and trust that God has a plan for us. Jesus is our guide, our hope, and in believing in him we will find the peace that transcends this world’s difficulties.

Jesus inspires us to live with trust, knowing that our faith in God is the anchor that sustains us in the midst of the storm.

Prayer: Lord, remind us that even though the circumstances may be difficult and the paths uncertain, your plan is perfect. Teach us to believe in you with all our being, to trust in your wisdom and to rest in your peace which surpasses all understanding. Amen.

Ascensión del Señor

Cuando la fe se convierte en confianza.

Juan 16: 29-33

Estas cosas os he hablado para que en mí tengáis paz. En el mundo tendréis aflicción, pero confiad, yo he vencido al mundo.

Juan 13:33

La confianza en Dios no significa que no enfrentemos problemas, más bien, implica que, a pesar de esos problemas, podamos encontrar paz y fortaleza en nuestra fe. Jesús nos invita a creer en su poder y a recordar que, aunque las circunstancias sean adversas, Él está con nosotros y nos ha enseñado a través de su palabra a no desanimarnos.

En tiempos de incertidumbre, este pasaje nos recuerda que debemos aferrarnos a nuestra fe y confiar en que Dios tiene un plan para nosotros/as. Jesús es nuestro guía, nuestra esperanza, y al creer en Él, encontramos la paz que trasciende las dificultades del mundo.

Jesús nos inspira a vivir con confianza, sabiendo que nuestra fe en Dios es el ancla que nos sostiene en medio de la tormenta.

Oración: Señor, ayúdanos a recordar que, aunque las circunstancias puedan ser difíciles y los caminos inciertos, tu plan es perfecto, Enséñanos a creer en ti con todo nuestro ser, a confiar en tu sabiduría y a descansar en tu paz que sobrepasa todo entendimiento.  Amén.
