FAITHFUL AND WATCHFUL SERVANTS
LUKE 12:39-48
And the Lord said, “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent manager whom his master will put in charge of his slaves, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?
Luke 12:42 (NRSV)
Jesus presents us with the image of the homeowner who must be prepared for the thief’s arrival, and of the servant who awaits his master’s return. The central message is vigilance and faithfulness. The disciple does not know the moment when the Lord will come, but is called to live each day with responsibility and obedience.
This passage reminds us that true preparation does not consist in guessing or calculating the timing, but in living with constant faithfulness. The faithful servant diligently manages what has been entrusted to him, knowing that he will be held accountable. In contrast, the negligent servant, who abuses his authority, mistreats his neighbor, and neglects his duty, will be caught off guard and judged severely.
The grace we have received in Christ calls us to a life of service, love, and responsibility. We are not owners of what we have, but stewards of God’s gifts.
Prayer: Lord, may we always remain faithful to you. May we steward responsibly what you have entrusted to us, and may we live as a reflection of your love and your justice. Amen.

SIERVOS FIELES Y VIGILANTES
LUCAS 12:39-48
