BEYOND THE RULES
LUKE 11:42–46

Woe to you, teachers of the law! You load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, but you yourselves do not lift a finger to help them.

    Matthew 11:46

Jesus condemns the attitude of the Pharisees and teachers of the law, who meticulously observed external rituals–such as tithing even the herbs–yet neglected what is essential: justice and the love of God.
He rebukes them for seeking the highest positions and honorific greetings—the pursuit of recognition when what truly matters is humble and loving service. Jesus denounces the heavy burdens and obligations that they themselves were unwilling to fulfill.
Today we are called to lighten our burdens, not to increase the weight of our lives; to share and sustain one another in that faith which translates into mutual and selfless support.
Rather than demanding that we be able to serve at all times and in all places, let us not be superficial, but rather deep in love and mercy.
Prayer: Father, deliver us from the temptation to seek honors and appearances, and teach us to be humble servants. Give us the courage to denounce the injustices that oppress the weakest among us. Amen.

MÁS ALLÁ DE LAS NORMAS
LUCAS 11: 42- 46
