WAITING IN HOPE
Luke 12:35-38
Be dressed for action and have your lamps lit;
Luke 12:35 (NRSV)
Jesus exhorts his disciples to be prepared, with their loins girded and their lamps burning, like servants awaiting the return of their master. The image is beautiful: the Christian life is described as a watchful waiting, full of hope and faithfulness.
This preparation is not passive but active; it never ceases, never grows weary, a waiting that does not cause pain, but is ready to act. Girding one’s loins implies a willingness to serve, and keeping the lamps lit means living in the light of Christ, in his word and his call, without letting faith fade.
This passage reminds us that our hope is not in the immediate present, but in the coming of the Lord. Vigilance is not fear, but joyful confidence that Christ will fulfill his promise. Amid life’s distractions and concerns, we are called to remain steadfast, attentive, and faithful to the message, to the Master’s whisper, serving and walking in our Lord’s way, close to and attuned to His voice.
Prayer: Lord, strengthen my faith so that I may keep watch with hope and faithfulness. May my life always be ready for Your call and sustained by Your grace. Amen.

VELANDO EN LA ESPERANZA
LUCAS 12: 35-38
Estén ceñidos vuestros lomos, y vuestras lámparas encendidas
Lucas 12: 35
