OUR STRENGTH IS IN TRUST
PSALM 37:3-7

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.  (RIV)
   Psalm 37:7a

Have you prayed constantly and waited for a great deal of time without seeing signs? Are you tired of waiting? Are you at the point of giving up completely? Perhaps you’ve not waited as you should. This has taken you out of the true place where God can find you.

“Wait with patience.” (Romans 8:25). Patience relieves weariness. He said he would come, and his promise equals his presence.  Patience makes sadness disappear. Why are you sad and despairing?  God knows your need better than you, and his objective in waiting isn’t other than relief from everything, the greatest glory.

God only desires that you believe; then you will understand that all is well. Patience removes all desire.  Your eagerness, perhaps, is greater than your desire that God’s will be done.

When you cultivate patience, you succeed in banishing all weakness, and instead of waiting for time to pass you’ll know that God is preparing a greater provision. Patience also makes vacillation disappear. As it says in Daniel 8:18, “Raise me to my feet.”  God’s foundations are firm while we wait. Patience dedicates itself to worship, sometimes to praise as well because it helps us bear suffering with joy. This is patience at her best.

But all these phrases about patience will reach perfection while you wait, and thus you will encounter a great enrichment.

Prayer:  Lord, endow us with trust and patience to be able to offer others your love and mercy. Amen.

EN LA CONFIANZA ESTÁ NUESTRA FORTALEZA
SALMO 37:3-7

   Salmo 37:7a

¿Has orado constantemente y esperado mucho tiempo sin ver señales? ¿Estás cansado de esperar? ¿Estás a punto de abandonarlo todo?

Quizás no has esperado como debías.

Thursday, September 13 THIRST FOR GOD PSALM 42:1-5

Thursday, September 13
THIRST FOR GOD
 PSALM 42:1-5

My soul thirsts for God. For the living God.  (NIV)
                                                                                                                                Psalm 42:2

To lack water implies the worst of all miseries, because without it we can dehydrate, even die.

There’s a sign that permits us to know when our body needs water to continue its course: it’s thirst. When this happens, and we don’t have anything at hand to drink, we despair and become distressed. It’s then when we give an unequaled value to water.  But what occupies us is not precisely physical thirst.  As in biblical times, there exists in today’s world an urgency to recognize the need for God in our lives. If at times we act with harshness, regrets, and with a lack of love, it’s because we are dry within and we lack the fresh anointment of God’s presence. A once a week sip on attending church isn’t enough. Once a day we need to dedicate a space of time to prayer and reading the Word. The wellspring that flows from God is constant, renewing and pure, and only in him can we mitigate our thirst.

We know that life is full of unexpected situations; but considering them, don’t resort to satiating our necessity in just any place. Although we may be distanced, in desert areas, let us carry a reserve of his blessed wellspring with us to consume at the indicated hour.

Prayer:  Lord, submerge me in the river of your Spirit.  I need to refresh this dry, thirsty heart in you. Amen.

LA SED DE DIOS
 SALMO 42:1-5

Wednesday, September 12 THE COST OF LIFE COLOSSIANS 3:1-4

Wednesday, September 12
THE COST OF LIFE
COLOSSIANS 3:1-4
Set your minds on things above,
not on earthly things. (NIV)
Colossians 3: 2

One of the harshest realities that we've had to endure during these times is the high cost of all that is sold. Prices are high on everything that’s marketed. What´s happening? Will it be that life has gotten so much more expensive?

All these questions beset our minds; and all this is happening because our world has become materialized in such a way that it has given too much importance to worldly possessions.

Those who have believed in Christ will have to think and live differently: firstly, a higher value will have to be placed on one self, because He paid a high price for our salvation. For this reason, our gaze will not have to be fixed on the immediate, it will have to be toward above, toward the infinite, toward the goal of achieving full and abundant life regarding the spiritual gifts that come from God.

Those are the resources for which we will truly have to fight, because it’s they that have a heavenly origin. It’s they that last, and they that serve to be able to withstand the immediate trials that attempt to subvert our purity and patience in the middle of the race we’ve begun within this plan called life that our God has designed for each of us and has gifted us with so much love.
Prayer: Beloved Father, help us to distinguish what our priorities are in life, and to never turn our senses away from your divine direction. Amen.

EL COSTO DE LA VIDA
COLOSENSES 3:1-4

Tuesday, September 11 GOD GRANTS US SECURITY AND STRENGTH MATTHEW 9: 1-8

Tuesday, September 11
GOD GRANTS US SECURITY AND STRENGTH
MATTHEW  9: 1-8

But I want you to know that the Son of Man
has authority on earth to forgive sins.
So he said to the paralyzed man,
“Get up, take your mat and go home.”  (NIV)
Matthew 9: 6,7
This meditation is based on one of the most well-known of Jesus’s miracles: the healing of a paralytic whose limitation kept him prostrate on a mat.

His friends’ faith in Jesus – and that of the outcast man as well – leads them to bring the sick man to the Lord’s feet, with the trust and hope of recovering from his health and from his constraints.

Jesus, attentive to so much faith, trust and hope, simply says to him. “Get up and walk.” The paralytic straightened himself up and began to walk.

Many times, in the course of our lives, we find ourselves in difficult situations that limit us and leave us disoriented and without the strength to battle and recover. Remember, and keep in mind that Jesus calls us to get up, fight, and win amid the difficulties. He gives us new forces to pick ourselves up and pursue his path.

Prayer:  Lord, renew my strengths to get up and fight, with the confidence of your love and mercy. Amen.

DIOS NOS TRANSFIERE SEGURIDAD Y FUERZA
MATEO  9: 1-8

Monday, September 10 DO I WANT TO LOVE AND SERVE OTHERS? MARK 1:40 -45

Monday, September 10
DO I WANT TO LOVE AND SERVE OTHERS?
     MARK 1:40 -45

Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man.
“I am willing,” he said, “Be clean.”  (NIV)
Mark 1:41

The Bible passage that serves as text to this meditation presents us with a situation between two people: On one side is a marginalized man, rejected because of sickness, and whose supposed punishment is for his sin. On the other side there’s Jesus, the Jesus full of mercy, the Jesus who loves to assist and heal because of his infinite love. What a great blessing for all it is to have faith, the absolute confidence that He wants to demonstrate his love for us!

And you, are you willing and ready to help those at your side and who need you in some way?  Let us accept the love and the health that Jesus provides us, sharing the same love with those who surround us. That is the “yes” that we should give.

Demonstrate your love to Jesus by loving others. Say: I want to love and serve others; yes, I am willing.

Prayer:  God of love, help us to be merciful; to be each time more identified with those around us.  Let us be instruments of transformation for other people. Amen.

     ¿QUIERO AMAR Y SERVIR A LOS DEMÁS?
     MARCOS 1:40 -45

Ya has quedado limpio
Marcos1:41

Sunday, September 9 HAPPY ARE THOSE WHO FOLLOW JESUS MATTHEW 5:1-12

Sunday, September 9
HAPPY ARE THOSE WHO FOLLOW JESUS
MATTHEW 5:1-12
Blessed are those of a clean heart
for they shall see God.  (NIV)
Matthew 5:8

When I read the text I remembered that some time ago a friend asked, “If we repent our known errors and continue sinning, then what happens?
Time and again our human nature causes us to commit errors. The challenge consists of recognizing them and to strive not to relapse into them.
If we feel pain when we sin, it’s a sign that we have become aware of the magnitude of our actions, and that we are repenting from the heart before God. We can further clean our hearts and fill them with light and the Spirit of God. We must leave behind every imprint of vanity, anger, pride and hypocrisy, and let only love overflow in us. This is difficult, but nothing is impossible for God.
Prayer:  Gracious and loving God, cleanse our hearts, so that sin may be part of the past, and we can become true citizens of the kingdom of heaven. Amen.

FELICES LOS QUE SIGUEN A JESÚS
MATEO 5:1-12

Bienaventurados los de limpio corazón,
porque ellos verán a Dios.
Mateo 5:8

Saturday, September 8 GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS MATTHEW 7:7-12

Saturday, September 8
GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS
MATTHEW 7:7-12
Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find;
knock, and the door will be opened for you.
Matthew 7:7 (NRSV)
I have always heard that to forgive it is necessary to totally forget the wrongs. I don’t harbor resentment toward the one who has offended me and will help him if necessary, however, I cannot forget what happened at that point. This has always bothered me, and I have felt disgusted with myself, believing that I didn’t deserve God’s blessings and his forgiveness.
A few days ago, a sister told me that she had learned in a course about spiritual well-being that our life is not a slate where everything can be eliminated with an eraser. Good or bad experiences stay in the mind because they are a part of what was experienced. When we forgive, we do not erase the act, but neither do we hold a grudge. We are ready to help and to love the one who at another time has hurt us.
I felt that this was the answer I was waiting for from God after years of praying and striving to be better. I understood that to forget grievances is not to forget the acts, but it is loving, helping, and feeling God’s peace in our hearts.

Prayer: Thank you, beloved God, for listening to our prayers and clarifying our doubts. Lord, teach us to learn to forgive. Amen.

Translation by John Potter

DIOS SIEMPRE RESPONDE
MATEO 7:7-12

Enséñanos Señor a aprender a perdonar. Amén.
