Saturday, March 7 PRAYER 1st THESSALONIANS 5:16-18

Saturday, March 7
PRAYER
1st THESSALONIANS 5:16-18

Pray without ceasing

1st Thessalonians 5:17 (NRSV)

Prayer is a necessity in our lives. We live surrounded by difficulties, illnesses, and problems to which we find no solution.

The Apostle Paul could invite believers to be “always joyful,” but also to “pray without ceasing,” since he had put it into practice in the course of his life, as full as it was of setbacks and afflictions. It is precisely for this reason that the “always” and the “without ceasing” stand out. Both in the most difficult moments as well as in the easiest ones, it is always possible for us to pray.

When the day begins, don’t go out into the world without praying. In your daily activities maintain an attitude of constant communion with God. At night, even if sleep overcomes you after a hard day’s work, try to pray. The moments of prayer that because of our indolence we spurn we never recover. Let’s remember that every prayer that the Christian offers with faith and trusting in God’s will, will be answered completely.

Let us pray more and exercise our faith, let us wait with more patience, and the result will be an abundant blessing.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the communion that we can have with you through prayer. Amen.

LA ORACION
1RA TESALONISENSES 5:16-18
Orad sin cesar
1ra Tesalonicenses 5:17

THOSE WHO PROCLAIM GOOD NEWS
ROMANS 10: 8-15

Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation

Mark 16:15 (NRSV)

Several days ago, I received some photos from a group of volunteers at a children's cancer hospital in Nicaragua, one of whom was my cousin. Along with the photos were their reflections on a reality that is sometimes alien and of little concern to us:

“. . . I went into the oncology ward yesterday, I still don’t know how to react or how to live after what I saw: children in pain, unable to do anything. I feel that I have changed and I asked God to change my way of living; I don’t want to be the same after having seen what I saw. I want to help change the world, so that there’s more of God . . .”

How many times have you and I as Christians felt moved to speak to others about God in the face of less shocking realities, how many times have we been distressed to see a group of children on the streets fighting, or dysfunctional families, or the hundreds of people who are admitted daily to hospitals for medical treatment. What sort of Christians are we when, out of fear or self-protection, we prefer to remain quiet and not share the marvelous gift of God’s love?
May God prepare us to be the light in our homes, in our neighborhoods, at work, with friends, with strangers.  May that wonderful experience lead us to reflect on the marvelous gift which we have, and which allows us to share it with love.
Prayer: Father, use us in the task of delivering your message to others. Amen.

LOS QUE ANUNCIAN LAS BUENAS NUEVAS
ROMANOS 10: 8-15

Thursday, March 5 FAITHFUL 1st JOHN 3:1

Thursday, March 5
FAITHFUL
1st JOHN 3:1

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life

John 3:16 (NRSV)

Waiting for the arrival of a baby is always an exciting event; it fills us with joy and great expectation. There are also concerns about the details to be resolved about everything that involves having a small member in the family which often means that each member looks forward to the arrival of that being loved since its conception.

A while ago a mother commented that in her natural maternity, she had grasped the meaning of God’s infinite love. For the first time, she said, Jesus’ words were in sync with her own words.  She also experienced fear in thinking of all the events, some happier than others, that her little girl would encounter in her long journey through this life.

Seeing it this way, thinking of God’s sacrifice in sending us his only begotten son, is a clear proof of how much the Father loves us. And that sacrifice is not a one time thing, but repeats itself day by day in order to show us his love and compassion. With the same anxiety that a mother awaits the arrival of her children, God waits for us to receive him in our hearts and recognize him as the only and absolute savior, a faithful and loving father.

Prayer: Father, thank you for giving us the miracle of life and salvation through your son Jesus. Amen.

FIEL
1RA JUAN 3: 1

Wednesday, March 4 HE BELIEVED . . . AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS ROMANS 4: 1-5

Wednesday, March 4
HE BELIEVED . . . AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS
ROMANS 4: 1-5

if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass,
it will be done for you

Mark 11:23b (NRSV)

It is said that on one occasion Napoleon Bonaparte was reviewing his troops when, suddenly, his horse reared up. A soldier threw himself bravely forward and grabbed the animal by the bridle and brought it to the emperor. On receiving his horse back, Napoleon addressed the brave soldier, “Thank you, my captain!” That soldier resolutely asked, “In what regiment?” “In my personal guard,” came the reply.

And that soldier reported to the commander of the personal guard presenting himself as a captain. “By whose order?” asked the commander eyeing that foot soldier. His reply: “By order of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.” And indeed, from then on he was received with that military rank. That soldier had the courage to believe the words that were spoken to him, and that changed the entire course of his life.

Without a doubt, this illustration should encourage us to put our trust in the many promises of the Word of God that are intended to strengthen our faith and encourage us in our Christian life. But do we believe God?

Prayer: Lord, strengthen our faith and help us to believe and to live trusting in you. May our journey with you never be disturbed by doubts but be surrounded by the aura of your power. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

CREYÓ… Y LE FUE CONTADO POR JUSTICIA
ROMANOS 4: 1-5

Tuesday, March 3 CERTAINTY AND CONVICTION HEBREWS 11:1-2; 12: 1-2

Tuesday, March 3
CERTAINTY AND CONVICTION
HEBREWS 11:1-2; 12: 1-2

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1 (NRSV)

In a meeting for Bible study at an international conference, participants were asked to write on large sheets of paper the names of people they considered to be heroes of the faith, in the style of those mentioned by the author of the epistle to the Hebrews. The result could not have been more impressive and motivating.

On those large sheets of paper placed on the walls, the names of famous or significant people appeared (such as Calvin, Martin Luther King, Desmond Tutu). But along with so many of these names there were also placed numerous examples of what someone can personally mean in our own pilgrimage of faith. Thus, some wrote: my grandmother, my mother, the missionary who accepted me in the school…

Daily a great cloud of witnesses continues to surround us. They have given us living signs of hope in the Lord with the conviction that God accompanies, guides and sustains his people. That same faith should encourage us, that great cloud of witnesses should serve,  stimulate and fortify us so that in their turn our names can be included by others in their lists of heroes of the faith.

Prayer: Lord, remind us of how many people have fed our Christian life. We pray for the strength needed for us also to be an example for many. Amen.

CERTEZA Y CONVICCION
HEBREOS 11:1-2; 12: 1-2

Tuesday, March 2 Anniversary of the “Rev. Ricardo Jorge” Church (Perico) WHEN SIN ABOUNDED ROMANS 5:20-6: 2

Tuesday, March 2
Anniversary of the “Rev. Ricardo Jorge” Church (Perico)
WHEN SIN ABOUNDED
ROMANS 5:20-6: 2

but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more

Romans 5:20b (NRSV)

The Scriptures are meant to reveal God's will for our lives; an important way to do this is to point out where the problem of human sin lies. Paul discusses this aspect in Chapter 7 of the letter to the Romans, stating among other things that it is by the Law that sin is known, insofar as it presents certain very clear prohibitions. The Law tries to correct our behaviors but has proved insufficient to make us righteous before God.

Now, however, we have attained a higher level in the life of the believer when we recognize that what the Law itself could not accomplish, that is, our justification before God, is made possible by the new life in Christ. Divine grace has surpassed the power and magnitude of the effects of sin. Therefore, according to the Pauline reasoning, our lives now should not “persevere in sin” but to the contrary, be “instruments of justice.”

That is the constant calling of witnesses to Jesus Christ, to proclaim and live God’s grace, his favor on those who love good and peace.

Prayer: Lord, through your Word and the action of your Spirit, show us your will, so that we may be faithful to the vocation to which you have called us: serving, loving and walking in your ways.  Amen.

Aniversario de la Iglesia “Rev. Ricardo Jorge” (Perico)
CUANDO EL PECADO ABUNDO
ROMANOS 5:20-6: 2

Sunday, March 1 RIDING THE WAVE GALATIANS 6: 9-10

Sunday, March 1
RIDING THE WAVE
GALATIANS 6: 9-10

making the most of the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5: 16 (NRSV)

In Rick Warren’s book “The Purpose Driven Church,” the author expresses an interesting idea with a simile taken from the sport of surfing (the difficult art of “riding” a wave of a certain size on a surfboard). He states that no one can create a wave; you must wait for it to come up, but it is up to us to learn to surf it, so that we can do it without falling.

I believe that we have proven this truth in various situations in our churches. Sometimes we complain about the poor ministry of music, the shortage of teachers or leaders, the lack of enthusiasm in certain almost non-existent groups, etc. But it is a reality that as soon as the church decides to do something, God begins to move circumstances and His actions surprise us.

God will give the fruits, even if the present times are not the most suitable. God has always acted and will continue to do so, but in line with what he has revealed to us he will expect us to move by faith, to do our part; otherwise we will not see that hand of God working in our favor.

Prayer: Lord, do not let us tire of working, always trusting that You will give us the fruits in due time. Amen.

APROVECHAR LA OLA
GALATAS 6: 9-10
