RIDING THE WAVE

GALATIANS 6: 9-10

making the most of the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5: 16 (NRSV)

            In Rick Warren’s book “The Purpose Driven Church,” the author expresses an interesting idea with a simile taken from the sport of surfing (the difficult art of “riding” a wave of a certain size on a surfboard). He states that no one can create a wave; you must wait for it to come up, but it is up to us to learn to surf it, so that we can do it without falling.

            I believe that we have proven this truth in various situations in our churches. Sometimes we complain about the poor ministry of music, the shortage of teachers or leaders, the lack of enthusiasm in certain almost non-existent groups, etc. But it is a reality that as soon as the church decides to do something, God begins to move circumstances and His actions surprise us.

            God will give the fruits, even if the present times are not the most suitable. God has always acted and will continue to do so, but in line with what he has revealed to us he will expect us to move by faith, to do our part; otherwise we will not see that hand of God working in our favor.

Prayer: Lord, do not let us tire of working, always trusting that You will give us the fruits in due time. Amen.

APROVECHAR LA OLA

GALATAS 6: 9-10

Aprovechando bien el tiempo presente, porque los días son malos.

Efesios 5: 16

En el libro "Una Iglesia con Propósito", de Rick Warren, este autor expresa una interesante idea con un símil tomado del deporte del surfing (el difícil arte de “montar” una ola de cierta magnitud con una tabla de surfear), él planteaba que nadie puede crear una ola, hay que esperar que esta surja, pero sí nos corresponde el entrenamiento para surfearla, de modo que podamos hacerlo sin caídas.

Creo que esta verdad la hemos comprobado en diversas situaciones de nuestras iglesias. En ocasiones nos quejamos del pobre ministerio de la música, de la escasez de maestros o líderes, de la falta de entusiasmo en determinados grupos, casi inexistentes, etc. Pero es una realidad que en cuanto la iglesia se decide a hacer algo, Dios comienza a mover circunstancias y su actuar nos sorprende.

Dios dará los frutos, no importa que los tiempos presentes no sean los más adecuados. Dios siempre ha actuado y seguirá haciéndolo, pero en consonancia con lo que nos ha revelado, él va a esperar que nosotros nos movamos por fe, nos toca hacer nuestra parte, de lo contrario no veremos esa mano de Dios obrando a nuestro favor.

Oración: Señor, no nos dejes cansarnos de obrar, confiando siempre que Tú nos darás los frutos a su tiempo. Amén.
