THROUGHOUT THIS LIFE, LOVE SUFFICES

MATTHEW 25: 31-46

“Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul…”

1 Peter 2:11

There is a story about a tourist in the past century who went to Cairo, Egypt, with the purpose of visiting a famous wise man.  The tourist was surprised when he saw that the wise man lived in a very simple little room filled with books.  The only pieces of furniture were a bed, a table and a bench.

“Where is your furniture?” asked the tourist. And the wise man quickly also asked: “And where is yours?”

“Mine?” asked the surprised tourist. “I’m only passing through!”

“So am I,” concluded the wise man.

Life on earth is only temporary.  However, many people live as if they were planning to stay here for eternity and they forget to be happy. Let us remember that:

God will not ask you for the square footage of your house; He will ask you how many people you welcomed to it.

God will not ask you what name brands are hanging in your closet; He will ask you how many people you helped to clothe.

God will not ask you how much money you made; He will ask you if you sold your conscience in order to make it.

God will not ask you for your job title; He will ask you if you did your work to the best of your ability.

God will not ask you how many friends you had; He will ask you how many people considered you their friend…

Prayer: Jesus, teacher of the way, help us to understand that only by learning to love, in the same way that you love us, will we be able to be happy in this world in which we are only “just passing through.” Amen.

DE PASO POR ESTA VIDA, EL AMOR BASTA

MATEO 25: 31-46

“Amados hermanos, como si ustedes fueran extranjeros

y peregrinos, les ruego que se aparten de los deseos

pecaminosos que batallan contra el alma…”

1 Pedro 2: 11

Se cuenta que en el siglo pasado, un turista fue a la ciudad de El Cairo, Egipto, con la finalidad de visitar a un famoso sabio. El turista se sorprendió al ver que el sabio vivía en un cuartito muy simple y lleno de libros. Las únicas piezas de mobiliario eran  una cama, una mesa y  un banco.

- ¿Dónde están sus muebles? preguntó el turista. Y el sabio, rápidamente, también preguntó: - Y dónde están los suyos...?

- ¿Los míos?, se sorprendió el turista. ¡Pero si yo estoy aquí solamente de paso!

Yo también- concluyó el sabio.

La vida en la tierra es solamente temporal. Sin embargo, algunos viven como si fueran a quedarse aquí eternamente y se olvidan de ser felices. Recordemos que:

Dios no te preguntará los metros cuadrados  de tu casa; te preguntará cuánta gente recibiste en ella.

Dios no te preguntará la marca de la ropa en tu armario; te preguntará a cuántos ayudaste a vestirse.

Dios no te preguntará cuán alto era tu sueldo; te preguntará si vendiste tu conciencia para obtenerlo.

Dios no te preguntará cuál era tu título; te preguntará si hiciste tu trabajo con  lo mejor de tu capacidad.

Dios no te preguntará cuántos amigos tenías; te preguntará cuánta gente te consideraba su amigo…

Oración: Jesús, maestro del camino, ayúdanos a comprender que sólo aprendiendo a amar, así como tú nos amas es que podemos ser felices en este mundo en el que sólo estamos “de paso”. Amén.
