FAITH LIKE THAT OF A CHILD

MATTHEW  2: 1-12

 “And the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was."

Matthew 2:9b

Little Tania, six years old, and her dad were conversing as they traveled in the car.  The little girl was watching the moon through the car window and asked:  “Daddy, do you think that I could touch the moon if I stand up?” “No, I don’t think so,” he smiled. “And what about you, can you reach it?” “No, I don’t think I can do it either.” Tania was quiet for a moment, and then she confidently stated: “Papi, how about if you carried me on your shoulders?”

This is faith!  Yes, God constantly encourages us to live by the kind of faith that little children possess, for whom there exist neither obstacles nor defeat, who believe that their father or their mother can attain seemingly impossible goals. In the same way, within our relationship with God, we can feel that He can do everything that seems impossible for us.  Today, when we celebrate the glorious manifestation of God in Jesus, let us remember that only the faith and the hope of the Wise Men of the Orient were the ways to reach the God Child and to share their gifts. Let us therefore strengthen our faith and be like children, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Prayer: Our Jesus, increase our faith so that we can walk trusting in your power, so that we can intercede on behalf of the afflicted and the sick and for peace in the world. May our faith be strengthened constantly so that, like the Magi, we may find the right path that leads to you. Amen.

 FE COMO LA DE UN NIÑO

MATEO  2: 1-12

“La estrella que habían visto en el oriente iba delante de ellos, hasta que se detuvo sobre el lugar donde estaba el niño "

La pequeña Tania, de seis años de edad, y su papá conversaban mientras viajaban en el auto. La niña  miraba la luna llena a través de la ventana del vehículo y preguntó: «Papá, ¿crees que yo podría tocar la luna si me levanto?» «No, no lo creo», sonrió él. «¿Y tú, puedes alcanzarla?» «No, no creo que tampoco pueda hacerlo». Tania estuvo callada por un momento, luego dijo confiadamente. «Papi, ¿y si me cargas sobre tus hombros?».

¡Eso es fe! Sí, Dios nos anima constantemente a vivir la fe como niños y niñas, para quienes nos existen obstáculos, ni derrotas, para quienes creen posible que su padre o su madre pueden lograr cosas aparentemente imposibles. Asimismo en nuestra relación con Dios podemos sentir que Él puede lograr todo aquello que a nosotros nos parece imposible. Hoy, cuando celebramos la manifestación gloriosa de Dios en Jesús, recordemos que sólo la fe y esperanza de los sabios del Oriente fueron las vías para llegar hasta el niño Dios y compartir los dones. Fortalezcamos pues nuestra fe y seamos como los niños y las niñas porque de ellos y ellas es el reino de los cielos.

Oración: Jesús nuestro, auméntanos la fe, para caminar confiados en tu poder, para interceder por los afligidos, los enfermos y por la paz del mundo. Que nuestra fe sea fortalecida constantemente para que, al igual que los sabios, encontremos el camino correcto que conduce a ti. Amén.
