GO UP INTO THE MOUNTAINS

HAGGAI 1

“Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,’ says the LORD.”

Haggai 1:8

The prophet Haggai contemplated a sad sight:  upon their return from captivity, the Hebrew people began to rebuild their own houses, orchards and farms.  They devoted themselves to their businesses and other activities, while God’s temple remained in ruins.

Haggai knew that religious unity meant national strength. He knew that without God and without faith the people would be weak and become an easy prey for their enemies.  This is why he told the people:  Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,’ says the LORD.

Let us apply these verses to our lives, which are at times in ruins like the ancient Hebrew temple.

The materials for the spiritual reconstruction of our lives are to be found above.  And the Lord says: “Go up into the mountains.”  Go up into the mountains of prayer.  Go up into the mountains of faith.  Go up into the mountains of consolation. Go up into the mountains of obedience. Go up into the mountains of enthusiasm.  Those are the materials that you need in order to rebuild your spiritual life.

Don’t look for those materials here below.  You have to go up above into the mountains.  God will give them to you.  You will see that God will impose his will upon a restored spiritual life and will be glorified within it.

Prayer: Give us, Lord, the elements of faith needed in order to have an abundant life in you. Amen.

SUBID AL MONTE

HAGEO 1

“Subid al monte, y traed madera, y reedificar la casa; y pondré en ella mi voluntad, y seré glorificado, ha dicho Jehová”

Hageo 1:8

El profeta Hageo contemplaba un triste espectáculo: con el retornar de la cautividad, el pueblo hebreo se dedicó a reconstruir  sus casas, huertos y fincas. Se dedicaron a sus negocios y demás actividades, pero el templo de Dios permanecía en ruinas.

Hageo sabía que la unidad religiosa significaba fortaleza nacional. Que el pueblo sin Dios y sin fe sería un pueblo débil, fácil presa de sus enemigos. Por eso él dice al pueblo: “Subid al monte y traed madera y reedificar la casa; y pondré en ella mi voluntad y seré glorificado, ha dicho el Señor”

Apliquemos ese versículo a nuestras vidas, a veces en ruinas como las del antiguo templo hebreo.

Los materiales para la reconstrucción espiritual de nuestras vidas están arriba. Y el Señor dice: “Subid al monte”. Sube al monte de la oración. Sube al monte de la fe. Sube al monte de la consolación. Sube al monte de la obediencia. Sube al monte del entusiasmo. Esos son los materiales que necesitas para reedificar tu vida espiritual.

No busques los materiales aquí abajo. Hay que subir la montaña. Dios te los dará. Fíjate que en una vida espiritual restaurada pondrá Dios su voluntad y será en ella glorificado.

Oración: Danos Señor, los elementos de fe necesarios para tener una vida abundante en ti. Amén.
