October 22. Thursday
FIRE AND DIVISION
LUKE 12:49-53
. . . and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith,
Ephesians 3:17a(NRSV

On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus turns to his disciples and speaks to them about the fire he brings, that it is not peace, but division that may arise when his message transforms lives. That fire is not capricious destruction, but the power of the Spirit and the love of God that purifies, ignites, and compels us to make a decision.

Following Jesus can lead us to face tensions even with those closest to us. It is not a matter of seeking conflict or responding with violence, but of standing firm in love and truth, even when our decisions make others uncomfortable.
We live in difficult times, where selfishness, violence, and incompetence seek to prevail in the face of outcries and demands for rights and security for a dignified life. That is why we are called to be agents of reconciliation, without renouncing our commitment to the most vulnerable and to a more just and fraternal society.
Building the Kingdom of God requires courage and perseverance.
Prayer: Jesus, we ask that the Fire you bring into our lives,which purifies us, transforms us, and drives us to a courageous struggle for the Kingdom of justice, truth, and communion, may never be extinguished. Grant that we may be bearers of your Peace, the peace that springs from the cross and the resurrection, the peace that is built through consistent decisions, prayer, forgiveness, and love. Amen.

FUEGO Y DIVISION 
LUCAS 12: 49-53
Entonces Cristo habitará en el corazón de ustedes a medida que confíen en él...
Efesios 3: 17a

En el camino hacia Jerusalén, Jesús se dirige a sus discípulos y les habla del fuego que trae; que no es paz, sino división lo que puede surgir cuando su mensaje transforma la vida. Ese fuego no es destrucción caprichosa, sino la fuerza del Espíritu y del amor de Dios que purifica, enciende y obliga a decidir. 
Seguir a Jesús puede llevarnos a enfrentar tensiones incluso con personas cercanas. No se trata de buscar peleas ni de responder con violencia, sino de mantenernos firmes en el amor y la verdad, aun cuando nuestras decisiones incomoden. 
Vivimos tiempos difíciles, donde el egoismo, la violencia y la incompetencia tratan de imponerse ante la denuncia y la exigencia por los derechos y seguridad a una vida digna. Por eso, estamos llamados a ser agentes de reconciliación, sin renunciar al compromiso con los más vulnerables y con una sociedad más justa y fraterna.
Construir el Reino de Dios exige valentía y perseverancia.
Oración: Jesús, te pedimos que el Fuego que traes a nuestras vidas; y que nos purifica, transforma e impulsa a una lucha valiente por el Reino de justicia, verdad y comunión; nunca se apague. Permite que podamos ser portadores de tu Paz, la que nace de la cruz y de la resurrección, la que se construye con decisiones coherentes, oración, perdón y amor. Amén.
