THE SECRET

2 Corinthians  13:14

Keep his statutes and his commandments, which I am commanding you today for your own wellbeing and your descendants after you …

Deuteronomy 4:40 (NRSV)

What is the secret to success in life? Some people spend years searching for magic solutions to help them achieve success. They invest their money and their time, but most often they don’t find what they are looking for. Where is the fault?

If we reflect on each experience, we can realize that in most cases, what happens is that people forget to incorporate the three essential ingredients: knowing, loving, and following God. Because, when we know our creator through reading the Bible and praying, we understand where we came from, what is the meaning of  why we are here,  and where to direct our steps.

When we love God, we have not only the ability to put our feelings and priorities in order, but we also strengthen our inner being. And when we follow his instructions and teachings, we learn to make good decisions and organize life to achieve success.

The secret then, is to trust in God and give him first place in our lives. That way we can enjoy through all the years which means true happiness.

Prayer: Thank you Lord, because with you I have everything. Thank you for your love, and your mercy. Amen.

Aniversario IPR “Resurrección” (Juan G. Gómez)

EL SECRETO

2 Corintios  13:14

ELBOW TO ELBOW

Acts 11:22-24

When he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast devotion.

Acts 11:23 (NRSV)

Generally, discouragement is one of the strategies used by the evil one to complicate our lives. How many times have you gone through difficult times that seemed to have no solution? Have you ever thought of giving it all up? They say that Christians can never get discouraged, but that is not true. We all go through periods of discouragement and need someone to give us strength.

The New Testament talks about a cheerleader: Barnabas. The book of Acts said that he was a good man, that he had the power of the Holy Spirit and trusted only in the Lord. He sold some of his land to help his brothers and sisters in the faith. He stood by the apostle Paul, supported him through difficult hours, and never sought fame

So, people like Barnabas are very important. A cheerleader’s job is like that of a parent trying to keep their child in balance.  If the child falls, the parent must pick it up, or comfort it, get it backs on its feet, and encourage the child to try again.

Encouragement is an important task among Christians. It was what God did with us through Jesus Christ. To save us, Jesus became a human being like  us.

Encouragement is the most effective way to counter discouragement. It must be present in all the interrelationships of the Body of Christ. And remember that  transmitting encouragement is transmitting the grace of God.

Prayer: Thank you my good God for each person you place in our daily walk, who are cheerleaders in our hours of discouragement.

CODO A CODO

Hechos 11:22-24

DISGUISED BLESSINGS

Matthew 11:28-30

Praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus!  ...Who comforts us in all our troubles,

2 Corinthians 1:3a, 4a (NIV)

You may have had some loss in your life; we all go through that. And,  in those hours it is a relief to be able to share, cry or pray with people close to you.

Although pain is part of our lives, nobody likes to suffer. One day we will be free from all suffering, but while we are here, it is wise to try to extract some meaning from the trials. Contrary to popular belief, this is not impossible. Problems, adversities, and losses can be transformed into discipline and enrichment. This is important spiritual training.

It is known that broken hearts can overflow with blessings. God does not comfort us just to make us comfortable, but so that we also can comfort others. Further, when he sends us tests, he also gives us the grace to face them. Therefore, trials become triumphs, losses become gains, blessings in disguise, or briefly camouflaged angels who come to bless us. Suffering and difficulties can produce something significant in our character.

Whatever your loss, you should not face it alone. Accept Jesus’ own invitation to come to Him.

Prayer: Thank you,  my good Lord Jesus, for every moment that you are by my side. No matter what is going on in my life, you always accompany me and comfort me. Amen.

BENDICIONES DISFRAZADAS

Mateo 11:28-30

¡Demos gracias a  Dios, Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo!... Siempre nos ayuda. Cuando tenemos dificultades, o cuando sufrimos.

2 Corintios 1:3a, 4a

Fifth Sunday of Lent

WE ARE ALL SINNERS

John  8:1-11

.... “Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

John 8:7 (NRSV)

Jewish leaders belittled the Law by arresting only the woman. The law required that both parties involved in adultery be stoned. They used the woman as a trap to bring Jesus down. If he said that the woman should not be stoned, he would be accused of violating the Law of Moses.  If he urged them to execute her, they would accuse him in front of the Romans, who did not allow the Jews to carry out their own executions.

This is a significant declaration when it comes to judging others.  Since Jesus affirmed the punishment applicable to adultery, it was not possible to accuse him of being against the Law. But by saying that only one who was without sin, he highlighted the importance of compassion and forgiveness. When others are caught in sin, are you quick to pass judgement? Doing so is equivalent to acting as if you had never sinned. It is God who must judge, not us. It is up to us to show forgiveness and compassion.

After Jesus’ statement, the accusers walked away in silence from the oldest to the youngest. Whatever your age, take an honest look at your life. Recognize your sinful nature and look for ways to help others instead of ruthlessly hurting, criticizing, or judging them.

Jesus did not condemn the woman, nor did he overlook her sin. Jesus is willing to forgive any sin in her life, but confession and repentance involve a change of heart. With God’s help we can accept Christ’s forgiveness and put an end to our evil deeds.

Prayer: Beloved father, help us to recognize our sin and repent from our hearts. Through Jesus we prayer. Amen.

Quinto Domingo de Cuaresma

TODOS SOMOS PECADORES

Juan  8:1-11

GOD TRANSFORMS EVIL INTO GOOD

John 16:20

Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.

Proverbs 12:25

There is not a single person in the whole world who can boast of never having had worries. Life’s own pressures place concerns on our  shoulders that are almost always difficult to carry: children with problems, sick relatives, unemployment, lack of money, etc.  They take away our peace and our happiness. But the truth is that we only lose them if we allow problems to control us.

The Bible affirms on various occasions that  the Lord transforms evil into good for those who love and obey Him. However, when worry governs our emotions, confuses our reasoning, and takes us away from dependence on God, the result is constant irritation and moodiness. We become bitter, always complaining inside and out.

We cannot escape worries, but it is possible to face them in the right way;  understand that bad humor, irritation, harsh words, bitterness, or being rude to those around us will do not good in trying to resolve them.

The Bible teaches us to be kind to people, especially to those in our home. So, we must take care of the words that come out of our mouth, choose them carefully with the purpose of promoting peace and always show our commitment to Christ.

Prayer: Forgive us Lord, when in the midst our suffering we attack those closest to us. Deliver us from bitterness which makes it more difficult for us to find the true answer to our problem in You. Amen.

DIOS TRANSFORMA EL MAL EN BIEN

Juan 16:20

WHO GIVES TO THE POOR LENDS TO GOD

Mark 10:21

Those who are gracious to the poor lend to the Lord, and the Lord will fully repay them.

Proverbs 19:17 (NRSV)

Solomon taught in this verse that the Lord will surely reward us whenever we help a poor person. When we help someone in need, divine generosity is poured out on us as if we had given an offering to God Himself.  Our investment in favor of the poor is an expression of our faith, which resonates in the compassionate and committed heart of the Lord and pays dividends of great blessing to our lives.

Further, there is no need to go to great lengths trying to find someone whose need is  greater than our own. For this exact reason, when you find someone in such condition, be the first to know that the Lord will cover all that person’s needs as you try to cover the specific need. God likes us to trust Him. By helping a poor person, you can be sure that your investment will not be in vain. The Lord blesses those who bless someone in need.

Experience the goodness and faithfulness of God. You will not be disappointed and will become an example to your children who never tire of watching.

Prayer: God of mercy, in your hands today I place the beginning of this quarter, my life, my desires, worries, doubts and fears. Look at my heart, Lord. Bless me. In the name of your Son Jesus, Amen.

QUIEN DA A LOS POBRES LE PRESTA A DIOS

Marcos 10:21
