GOD IN THE SMALL DETAILS

1 KINGS 19: 1-15

“After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire.  And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”

1Kings 19:12

I invite you today to reflect upon those small and daily details that we barely notice and which are important parts of our day-to-day. The coffee rising out of the espresso maker in the morning, the fine rays of sunshine entering through the slits in the kitchen window until we open it to a torrent of light, the unmistakable smell of recently boiled milk, the brilliance of dewdrops on our plants, the awakening of our loved ones…and thousands of similar routines in which God speaks to us each day and which we in our haste barely even notice.

When Elijah was in anguish and wanting to die, he received a message from God in a peaceful whisper.  How many times must he have felt that caress upon his face?

At the start of and throughout and at the end of each day, pay attention to God’s voice in the small details.  You will be astounded at the marvelous messages that the creator and giver of eternal life has for you.

Prayer: God of justice, of life, of peace, you reveal yourself in all the details of our existence.  Allow us to have a sharp vision in order to be able to perceive you, attentive ears to hear you, hands and mouths willing to proclaim you, firm feet to follow you wherever you may go. Amen.

DIOS EN LOS PEQUEÑOS DETALLES

1 REYES 19: 1-15

“Tras el terremoto vino un fuego, pero el Señor tampoco estaba en el fuego. Luego vino un silbo apacible y delicado”

Le invitó a reflexionar hoy en esos pequeños y cotidianos detalles que apenas advertimos y son parte importante de nuestro día a día. La cafetera desbordando café en las mañanas, los rayos tenues de sol entrando por las hendijas de la ventana en la cocina hasta que le abrimos paso al torrente de luz, el olor inconfundible a leche  recién hervida, las gotas de brillante rocío en nuestras plantas, el despertar de nuestros seres queridos... y así miles de rutinas en las que Dios nos habla cada día y a las que nosotros con nuestras prisas apenas prestamos atención.

Cuando Elías estaba angustiado y con ganas de morir recibió el mensaje de Dios en un silbo apacible ¿Cuántas veces él habría sentido esa caricia en el rostro?

Al comenzar, durante y al despedir cada día preste atención a la voz de Dios en los pequeños detalles. Se asombrará de los mensajes maravillosos que el creador y dador de vida eterna tiene para usted.

Oración: Dios de justicia, de vida, de paz, tú te revelas en todos los detalles de nuestra existencia. Permite que tengamos una visión aguda para poder percibirte, oídos atentos para escucharte, manos y bocas dispuestas a proclamarte, pies firmes para seguirte dondequiera que vayas. Amén
