IF YOU SAY ‘OUR FATHER’...

MATTHEW 6:5-13

“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.”

Matthew 6:7

A few days ago I read this in my Church bulletin:  

If you say “Our Father”—

Respect your brothers and sisters.

If you say “Hallowed be thy name”—

Don’t make his name look bad because of what you do.

If you say “Thy Kingdom come”—

Fight to make it happen.

If you say “Thy will be done”—

Make sure that you do so.

If you say “Give us this day our daily bread”—

Fight so that the poor receive it.

If you say “Forgive us our debts”—

You also must forgive.

If you say “Lead us not into temptation”—

Don’t go looking for it.

If you say “Deliver us from evil”—

Allow yourself to be delivered from every evil in your life.

I wanted to share this message because it is a great challenge to achieve coherence between our prayer to God and the testimony of a faith that is committed to building his kingdom.  Think about your daily actions if you pray the “Our Father”…

Prayer:  Our Father, forgive us for our selfish prayers and grant that our relationship with you be strengthened by a sincere response to your calling and by a testimony of committed faith. Amen.

Hace unos días leí esto en el boletín de mi Iglesia :

Si dices “Padre nuestro”

– respeta a tus hermanos y hermanas.

Si dices “santificado sea tu nombre”

– no le hagas quedar mal por lo que tú haces.

Si dices “venga tu Reino”

– lucha por su realización.

Si dices “hágase tu voluntad”

– procura cumplirla.

Si dices “danos nuestro pan”

 – pelea para que lo tenga el pobre.

Si dices “perdona nuestras ofensas”

 – tú también tienes que perdonar.

Si dices “no nos dejes caer en la tentación”

– no la busques.

Si dices “líbranos del mal”

– déjate liberar de todo mal en tu vida.
