I LONG TO KNOW GOD BETTER

Jeremiah 31:34

Let’s know, let’s press on to know the Lord…

Hosea 6:3a(CEB)

            When my husband arrived home yesterday from work, I could see that it had been a good day for him.  He walked rapidly toward me with his shoulders straight and a big smile. After being married to him for more than 40 years, I know that very well.  He knows me also, even at times better than I do. 

            In the same way I know my children and my nieces and nephews.  A particular posture or grin, a lowering of the head, or a dragging of a foot gives me a clue that something is going wrong. More than anything, I look at the expression in their eyes.

I want to know God in this way.  I want to listen to God’s whisper, see things through God’s eyes.  Even though bit by bit I have come to know God, for example, that there are things that I do that make God sad.  In this area, I feel there are still a lot of paths to travel with God. But the Lord does know me completely, and this comforts me and gives me security in my life. We have a God who knows us.

 

Prayer: Lord, allow me to know you better.  Thank you for pardoning me and helping me to change.  Amen.

ANHELO CONOCER MÁS A DIOS

Jeremias 31:34

Conozcamos al Señor…

Oseas 6:3

            Cuando mi esposo llegó ayer del trabajo, pude darme cuenta de que había sido un buen día para él. Caminó rápidamente hacia mí con sus hombros derechos y una gran sonrisa. Lo conozco muy bien después de haber estado casada con él por más de cuarenta años. Él me conoce también a mí, incluso a veces mejor que yo misma.

            De la misma manera conozco a mis hijos y mis nietos. Cierta postura o mueca, inclinación de la cabeza, o un arrastre de pie, me dan una pista de que algo anda mal. Más que todo, veo la expresión de sus ojos.

            Yo quiero conocer a Dios de esa forma. Quiero escuchar su susurro, ver las cosas a través de sus ojos. Aunque poco a poco he ido conociendo, por ejemplo, que hay cosas que hago que lo entristecen, siento que me queda mucho camino por recorrer en este sentido. Pero el Señor sí me conoce a mí completamente, y eso reconforta y da seguridad en la vida. Tenemos un Dios que nos conoce.

 

Oración: Señor, permíteme conocerte mejor. Gracias por perdonarme y ayudarme a cambiar. Amén.

PROOF OF THE POSITIVE

Matthew 5:15-16

In the same way, let your light shine before people…

            When my problems mount up, I try to always converse for a while with a friend.  She is the most positive person I know.  She is living proof of the positive.  She is a great Christian.  She radiates the light of God to all who know her.

            Her life is a “sign of more”.  If it is raining, she talks about how the rain freshens the day.  If the bus breaks down and she has to walk, she talks about the exercise she had.  This way she looks at the positive aspects of everything. 

            She plays the game of smiling at as many people as she can in one hour. I am one of those she smiles at.  My friend is the walking proof of what the Word of God says in Romans 8:28:  We know that all things work together for good for those who love God… She helps to develop confidence in all the people who know her.  She has a little note on her kitchen window that says: “I can.”  And so it is, for herself, but also toward others.

 

Prayer: Thank you Lord for my friend.  Through her I can hear you saying to me:  Be a proof of the positive.  Amen.

PRUEBA DE LO POSITIVO

Mateo 5:15-16

Hagan brillar su luz delante de todos…

Mateo 5:16

            Cuando me siento en problemas, trato siempre de poder conversar un rato con una amiga. Ella es la persona más positiva que conozco. Ella es una prueba viviente de lo positivo. Es una gran cristiana. Irradia la luz de Dios a todos los que la conocen.

            Su vida es un “signo de más”. Si está lloviendo, ella habla de cómo la lluvia refresca el día. Si la guagua se rompe y tiene que caminar, ella habla del ejercicio que hizo; así ve el aspecto positivo de todo.

            Ella juega el juego de hacer sonreír a más personas en una hora. Una de ellas soy yo. Mi amiga es la prueba andante de lo que dice la Palabra de Dios en Romanos 8:28: Y sabemos que a los que aman a Dios, todas las cosas les ayudan a bien. Ella ayuda a desarrollar confianza en todas las personas que la conocen. Tiene una pequeña nota en la ventana de su cocina que dice: “Yo puedo”. Y así actúa, ara ella misma, pero también hacia los demás.

 

Oración: Gracias por mi amiga Señor. A través de ella puedo oírte decirme: Sé una prueba de lo positivo. Amén.

CHOOSE LIFE

Matthew 19:17

I came so that they could have life—indeed, so that they could live life to the fullest.

            When I was in fifth grade I remember having the most difficult experience of growing up.  My feet were so big.  I was the tallest student in the entire school. I felt clumsy and not very sharp mentally. I did not have good grades, and I was developing a bad attitude toward almost everything.      Thanks to a teacher who noted this problem, I was able to rise above it.  She was the tallest one in the school.  One day she waited for me at the end of classes and she had a deep conversation with me.  She told me that I was very beautiful in the eyes of God, but she reminded me that a bad attitude eliminates any good appearance.  She left it very clear to me that I was the one who could make the choice. There could be no excuses.  She told me that she was sure that I was going to do the right thing and that I would have a positive life.   

            Now I see the hand of God in this.  This lesson of choosing a better life reminds me of my Lord and God, who tells me that it is never too late to repent of the bad and choose the good, a change which I choose for my life. 

 

Prayer: Thank you Jesus, for being my Savior and helping me to choose the right path.  Amen.

ESCOGE LA VIDA

Mateo 19:17

Jesús dijo: Yo he venido para que tengan vida, y la tengan en abundancia

Juan 10:10

            Cuando estaba en quinto grado recuerdo tener la experiencia más difícil mientras crecía. Mis pies eran demasiado grandes. Era la más alta de toda la escuela. Me sentía torpe y no muy lista de mente. No tenía buenas notas, y estaba desarrollando una mala actitud respecto a casi todo.

            Gracias a una profesora que notó ese problema, pude salir adelante. Ella era la más alta de toda la escuela. Un día me esperó al terminar las clases y tuvo una fuerte conversación conmigo. Me dijo que yo era muy hermosa a la vista de Dios, pero me recordó que una mala actitud elimina cualquier buena apariencia. Me dejó bien claro que era yo quien debía hacer la elección. No había excusas. Me dijo que estaba segura de que yo iba a hacer lo bueno y que tendría una vida positiva.

            Ahora veo la mano de Dios en esto. Esa lección de escoger una vida mejor me recuerda a mi Señor y Dios, que me dice que nunca es tarde para arrepentirme de lo malo, y escoger lo bueno, un cambio en el cual yo escojo la vida.

 

Oración: Gracias Jesús, por ser mi Salvador y ayudarme a escoger el camino correcto. Amén.
