GIFTS FOR THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

Romans 12:9-13

For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover them with favor as with a shield

Psalm 5:12 (NRSV)

There are gifts for our daily lives, gifts which allow our spiritual growth, gifts which, if not fulfilled, would lead to a false Christianity. Christians must love sincerely, without hypocrisy, free of egotism and disinterestedly. Our love must be affectionate because we are a family of God.

Half of the problems which arise in churches are about rights, privileges and prestige. The Christian must always be humble; the Christian does not have rights, only duties. The Christian can be consumed, but never rusted. Life offers us every sort of opportunities to learn new things, or to leave behind the old and unfruitful, to give a life-giving word or one of warning, of help or consolation. We must rejoice in hope, always optimistic, simply because God is God.

When the already certain terrible prospect of total deafness hovered over Beethoven, he said, “I will take life by the throat.” God’s children must be constant in praying; when a Christian gives up praying he is stripped of the armor of the All Powerful. We should not be surprised if our life falls apart when we pretend to live it without God.

In a consumerist world in which the only thing thought of is me first, Chrstians must be ready to give. Christianity is the religion of the open hand, the heart and door open.

Prayer: Lord, infinite thanks for knowing your laws and precepts. Help us to walk guided by your hand and to grow more in You every day. Amen.

REGLAS PARA LA VIDA DEL CRISTIANO.

Romanos 12:9-13
