NEVER AGAIN ALONE

JOHN 3:16-21

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

I have a co-worker whose husband is a merchant marine. Each time he returns from a long trip, it is interesting to hear about his experiences on his journey and the details of the cities he visited, but he always insists that he experienced terrible loneliness during those many months away from his family. How often we feel alone in life!  On many occasions, even with my feet firmly planted on the ground and without navigating through lonely oceans, we have felt alone.  Jesus Christ also felt lonesome, when he prayed alone in Gethsemane, when he stood alone before Pontius Pilate, when he was taken alone to Calvary; but in the midst of so much solitude, that cry was heard: “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”  The humanization of the Son of God offers the certainty that we shall never again be alone.  Someone is with us; with utmost confidence, there is hope for those who are sure of his promises. By our side marches someone, unseen by our eyes but with the conviction in our hearts that we do not walk alone.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for always being by our side.  Amen.

NUNCA MÁS SOLOS

JUAN 3:16-21

“Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo,

que ha dado a su Hijo unigénito

para que todo aquel que en él cree,

no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna”

Tengo una compañera de trabajo que su esposo es marino mercante. Es interesante escuchar cada vez que él llega de un largo viaje, sus experiencias de la travesía y los detalles de las ciudades visitadas, pero siempre insiste en la terrible soledad que experimenta durante meses, alejado de la familia. ¡Cuántas veces nos sentimos solos en la vida! En muchas ocasiones,  aun estando con los pies puestos en la tierra y no navegando por solitarios océanos, nos hemos sentido solos. Jesucristo también se  sintió solo, solo oraba en Getsemaní solo se encontró ante Pilato, solo fue llevado al Calvario; pero en medio de tanta soledad, se escuchó aquel grito: “Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu”. La humanización del Hijo de Dios ofrece la seguridad de que nunca más estaremos solos. Alguien nos acompaña; en medio de la más absoluta confianza, hay una esperanza para los que estamos seguros de sus promesas. A  nuestro lado marcha alguien, no le vemos, pero en nuestros corazones está la convicción de que no vamos solos.

Oración: Gracias Jesús, por estar siempre a nuestro lado. Amén.
