 LET US SHOW THE LOVE OF CHRIST
MATTHEW 5:43-48
“But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you...”

Matthew 5:44

We have before us one of the most difficult passages to put into practice:  the law of love.  It is easy for any of us to love or to get along well with our friends, or with people we know, people of good character; but others, at most, we ignore.

Christ has said to us: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him.” This means that loving those we abhor is not merely a question of pretending, but rather that it requires concrete actions, born of effective love.

With great sadness we acknowledge that anger, rage and lack of love have filled today’s world, including Christians. We, as salt and light, need to show the love of Christ.  Let us make certain to turn ourselves around and to lead others toward love.

 

Prayer: Lord, fill us with your love in order that we might show it to those around us. Amen.
 

MOSTREMOS EL AMOR DE CRISTO
MATEO 5:43-48
“Pero yo os digo: Amad a vuestros enemigos, bendecid a los que os maldicen, haced bien a los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen”

Mateo 5:44

Estamos en presencia de uno de los pasajes de más difícil cumplimiento: la ley del amor. A todos nos es fácil  amar o llevarnos bien con nuestras amistades, o con gente conocida, gente de buen carácter; pero a otros, cuando más, los ignoramos.

Cristo nos dejó dicho: “Si tu enemigo tuviese hambre, dale de comer”. Esto significa que el amor a quienes nos aborrecen no es una cuestión de un simple fingir, sino que requiere de acciones concretas, de un amor eficaz.

Con cuánta tristeza tenemos que reconocer que el enojo, la ira, la falta de amor, han llenado el mundo de hoy, incluyendo a los cristianos. Nosotros, como sal y luz, tenemos que mostrar el amor de Cristo. Procuremos recuperar y llevar a nuestros semejantes hacia el amor.

Oración: Señor, llénanos de tu amor para poder nosotros mostrárselo a quienes nos rodean. Amén.
