As a young boy I used to
listen to my grandmother singing the hymn “Caring Hands,” from which I still
recall this beautiful verse: “hands that always knew how to calm all pain, the
divine hands of my redeemer, the hands that multiplied the fish and the bread,
miraculous hands that give life.” This beautiful song makes me think about our
discipleship. As Jesus used his hands to serve, to bless, to heal and to feed,
today we should extend our hands to do good and to accomplish the calling that
God has given us to build his Kingdom.
Today we too need hands
that are ready to work and help those who are in need. In our work at home, and outside the
home, and at church, we have the opportunity to keep our hands busy in his
service.
Prayer: Lord,
help us to place aside our laziness so that we may occupy our hands in service
to the Church and to the world. Amen.
MANOS
DISPUESTAS A TRABAJAR
MARCOS 10:13-16
“Y tomándolos en sus brazos, poniendoas manos sobre
ellos, los bendecía”
Marcos 10:16
Desde pequeño escuchaba a mi abuela cantar el himno
“manos cariñosas”, del cual siempre recuerdo este hermoso fragmento: “manos
que supieron calmar el dolor, manos divinas de mi redentor, que multiplicaron
los peces y el pan, manos milagrosas que la vida dan” Este hermoso canto me
hace reflexionar acerca de nuestro discipulado. Así como Jesús usó sus manos
para servir, bendecir, sanar y alimentar, nosotros hoy debemos extender
nuestras manos para hacer el bien y cumplir con el llamado que nos ha hecho
Dios a construir su Reino.
También
hoy se necesitan manos dispuestas para trabajar y ayudar a quienes necesitan.
En el trabajo del hogar, en el trabajo de la calle, en el trabajo de la iglesia
tenemos la oportunidad de mantener nuestras manos ocupadas en su servicio.
Oración: Señor ,
permite que soltemos nuestra pereza y que podamos ocupar nuestras manos en el
servicio a la iglesia y al mundo. Amén.
