Anniversary of the IPR in Placetas
I HAVE ABUNDANCE: I AM COMPLETE
PHILIPPIANS 4:10-20
“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”
Philippians 4:11
What patience and confidence in God’s provision is shown by Paul in
this letter to the Philippians! An elderly female church member shared a recent
experience with her brothers and sisters: One evening she retired to her
bedroom and had her devotional before going to sleep. She was tense and worried about the scarcity
of provisions. She placed her burden before the Lord in prayer: “Father, there
is nothing left to eat in the kitchen.
What will I offer my family tomorrow when they come to my table for the
midday meal?” And right then and there she received God’s reply from the bottom
of her heart: “You became a widow with five children and without any
resources. In all these years that have
passed since, have you or your family gone a single day without your needs
being met? And now you’re going to stop
trusting me?” The elderly woman fell
peacefully asleep.
Days of scarcity offer Christians a blessing that is not easily had
on days of abundance: that of proving to
us that the promises of his Word are alive today.
Prayer: Father of
love and mercy, teach me to trust not in circumstances, but to hope in you. For Christ.

¡Cuánta paciencia y seguridad en la
provisión de Dios muestra Pablo en esta carta a los Filipenses!
Una anciana miembro de la iglesia contó a sus
hermanos su experiencia reciente: Una noche se recogió en su cuarto y antes de
dormir tuvo su devocional. Estaba tensa y preocupada por la escasez de víveres.
Al orar puso su carga ante el Señor: “Padre, nada me queda de comer en la
cocina. ¿Qué presentaré en el almuerzo mañana a mi familia cuando ponga la
mesa?” Y allá desde le fondo de su
corazón Dios le dio la respuesta : “Quedaste viuda con cinco hijos y sin
recursos. En todos estos años que han pasado ¿ha faltado a ti y a tu familia un
solo día algo de lo que necesitabas? ¿Y no vas a seguir
confiando en mí?” La anciana se quedó dormida tranquilamente. Los días
de escasez ofrecen a los cristianos una bendición que no es fácil tener en días
de abundancia: la de probarnos que las promesas de su Palabra no son letra
muerta.
Oración: Padre de amor y
misericordia, enséñame a no confiar en las circunstancias, sino a esperar en
ti. Por Cristo. Amén.
