International Day of Children 

 JESUS AND LITTLE CHILDREN

MARK 10:13-16

“…for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

Mark 10:14

It was a Jewish custom to take their children to a teacher to have him put his hands on them and bless them.  But when some children were brought to Jesus, the disciples thought that the work of the Savior was too important to be interrupted in that manner.  Jesus, however, understood a mother’s solicitous care and responsibility to conform her children’s education to the Word of God. He had heard their requests.

Today Christ is just as genuinely helpful to Christian mothers as he was when he gathered the little ones of Judea into his arms.  Jesus knows the burden that every mother carries in her heart.  He knows every sorrow and offers comfort and help for every need.  We welcome Jesus today and we will find abundant grace to help us in the care of our children.  The doors are open to every mother who wishes to place her burden at the feet of the Savior who said, “Let the little children come to me.”

Prayer: Lord, we pray for all children. Bless them in their innocence and tenderness. Amen.

 JESÚS Y LOS NIÑOS

MARCOS 10:13-16

“Porque de ellos es el Reino de Dios”

Era costumbre entre los judíos llevar a los niños ante un maestro para que pusiera las manos sobre ellos y los bendijese. Pero cuando se presentan unos niños para que fueran llevados a Jesús, los discípulos suponían que la obra del Salvador era demasiado importante para interrumpirla de esa manera. Sin embargo, Jesús comprendía el solícito cuidado y la responsabilidad de las madres que procuraban educar a sus hijos conforme a la Palabra de Dios. Él había oído sus ruegos. Cristo es hoy tan verdaderamente auxiliador de las madres cristianas, como cuando escogió a los pequeños de Judea en sus brazos. Jesús conoce la carga del corazón de cada madre. En cada tristeza y en cada necesidad ofrece consuelo y auxilio. Acudamos hoy a Jesús y encontraremos gracia abundante que nos ayuden en el cuidado de nuestros hijos. Abiertas están las puertas  para cualquier madre que quiera depositar su carga a los pies del Salvador, aquel que dijo: “Dejad a los niños venid a mí.”

Oración: Señor, oramos por todos los niños. Bendíceles en su ingenuidad y ternura. Amén.
