WHAT HAS THIS TRIMESTER TAUGHT US?

2 CORINTHIANS 4:13-18

“This is the victory that has overcome the world…”

1 John 5:4

This is the close of this trimester’s devotionals.  What have the more than ninety reflections from this time of the year taught us?  Surely we have read them in the midst of daily difficulties, and on occasion with the sad experiences of illness, pain and sorrow.   But that is life.  Knowing Christ, encountering him who fascinates and strengthens our existence, does not exempt us from the realities that everyone faces. Neither does it incite us to live in isolation in order to flee from our problems. On the contrary, through the light of our Christian faith, we understand that the world is also my parish.

We may also suppose that in each page of Su Voz, we have had a friend who has enjoyed the security, pleasure and satisfaction of the Christian faith alongside of us, and with whom we shall spend eternity beyond this earthly life.  As the Apostle Paul told the Corinthians:  “…for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all,” because we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Prayer: Thank you, Oh God of mercy, for the readings in Su Voz. May they fill our lives and nourish our compassion and wisdom. Amen.  

¿QUÉ NOS DEJA EL TRIMESTRE?

2 CORINTIOS 4:13-18

“Y esta es la victoria que ha vencido al mundo”

1 Juan 5:4

Se cierra el trimestre de este devocionario. ¿Qué ha dejado en nuestras vidas las más de noventa reflexiones de esta época del año? Seguramente las hemos leído en medio de las dificultades diarias, y en ocasiones con las tristes experiencias de enfermedades, dolores y penas. Pero eso es la vida. El conocimiento de Cristo, el encuentro con Él que apasiona y fortalece la existencia, no nos exime de las realidades que toda persona afronta. Tampoco te incita a vivir aislado para huir de las dificultades. Por el contrario, entendemos a la luz de la fe cristiana que el mundo es también mi parroquia.

También es de suponer que en cada página de Su Voz, hemos tenido un amigo o amiga que ha disfrutado con nosotros de la seguridad, del gozo y la complacencia de la fe cristiana para hacer los tiempos eternos desde esta vida terrenal. Como refirió el apóstol Pablo a los corintios: “...lo que sufrimos en esta  vida es cosa ligera que pronto pasa, pero que nos trae como resultado una gloria eterna mucho más grande y abundante” , porque no nos fijamos en lo que se ve, sino en lo que no se ve, ya que las que se ven son pasajeras, pero las que no se ven son eternas.

Oración: Gracias Oh Dios de misericordia, por las lecturas de Su Voz. Que ellas llenen nuestras vidas y nos nutran de piedad y sabiduría. Amén.
