SILENT NIGHT, HOLY NIGHT
LUKE 2:1-20
“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and the baby, who was
lying in the manger.”
Luke 2:16
At that rehearsal, Silvia, a soloist in the
Church choir, rendered such an intense interpretation of the Christmas carol
“Silent Night,” that there was a long silence at the end, during which the
emotion of all those who had been listening could be felt.
That night
at home I thought about what that Christmas carol provoked in me, a feeling of
sadness and joy at the same time, night of peace, night of love, silent night,
holy night…
The melody
from this hymn has been known for over two centuries, since its creation at
Christmastime; a time of union and good wishes, a time that invites us to put
forth our best selves, a time of sharing, of giving, and also a time of
nostalgia because it makes us remember those who are no longer with us.
Thank God
for this beautiful hymn, for those who wrote it, for all those who have sung
it, transmitting its message of peace and of love from one generation to
another.
Prayer: God, who danced and sang from the creation of
the world, we pray for our brothers and sisters who work in the ministry of
music in our Churches. Make us
considerate and grateful for the musical gifts that these persons share in our
communities. We thank you for the lives
of those who are no longer with us and who in each liturgical moment made us
vibrate with their music or with their songs. Amen.
NOCHE DE PAZ, NOCHE DE AMOR
LUCAS 2:1-20
“Fueron de prisa y encontraron a María y a
José,
y al niño
acostado en el establo”.
Lucas 2:16
En aquel ensayo, Silvia, solista del coro de la
Iglesia interpretó intensamente el villancico “Noche de paz”, tanto fue así que
al terminar se hizo un largo silencio, en el cual se sentía la emoción de todos
los que la habíamos escuchado.
Meditaba esa noche en casa, cómo ese
villancico provocaba en mi, un sentimiento de tristeza y alegría a la vez,
noche de paz, noche de amor…
Himno, cuya melodía se ha
identificado por más de dos siglos desde su creación al tiempo navideño, tiempo de unión y buenos
deseos, tiempo que nos invita a mostrar lo mejor de nosotros, a compartir, a
entregar y también de nostalgia pues nos
hace recordar a aquellos que ya no están.
Gracias a Dios por este hermoso himno, por los que lo escribieron, por
todos los que lo han interpretado, transmitiendo de generación en generación el
mensaje de paz y de amor que contiene.
Oración: Dios que danzaste y cantaste desde la creación del mundo, oramos por los
hermanos y hermanas que trabajan en el ministerio de la música en nuestras
Iglesias. Haznos considerados y agradecidos por los dones que estas personas
comparten en nuestras comunidades. Te
damos gracias por la vida de los que ya no están y en cada momento litúrgico
nos hicieron vibrar con su música o con sus canciones. Amén
