COME TO MY HEART, OH CHRIST!

GALATIANS 4:1-7

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

Philippians 4:4

When we hear that a woman is pregnant, a family member or a friend, the preparations begin:  diapers, toys, a crib, a mattress, baby clothes…and the questions begin as well: what will it be?  Whom will it look like?  What name should we choose?  In any event, it is an entire time of anticipation, of preparation, of dreams, and of hope.

In the period of Advent we prepare ourselves spiritually for the birth of the Child King, imagining God, in human form, there in the manger, because that was the way in which the Lord offered salvation to the world. There is much for us to learn from this incarnation. God reveals himself in the simplicity of a manger and not in the magnificence of a palace.  Let us therefore see God in what is simple, in everyday things, in what is vulnerable…

Let us take advantage of Advent and prepare ourselves for Christmas by opening our hearts to the Lord and taking the good news that God is with us to all creatures.  Let us set aside exclusion, selfishness, fears, resentments and rejoice in the hope of the birth of Immanuel.

Prayer: Come to my heart, Oh Christ! Come, because there is room inside it for you. Amen.

VEN A MI CORAZÓN ¡OH CRISTO!

GÁLATAS  4:1-7

“Alégrense siempre en el Señor. Repito: ¡Alégrense!

Que todos los conozcan a ustedes como personas bondadosas. El Señor está cerca”.

Filipenses 4:4

Cuando se conoce del embarazo de alguna amiga, familiar o conocida,  comienzan los preparativos, pañales, juguetes, la cuna, el colchón, la ropita…, comienzan también las preguntas: ¿cómo será?, ¿a quién se parecerá?, ¿qué nombre le pondremos?, en fin todo un tiempo de preparación, de ilusión, de sueños y de esperanza.

En el tiempo de Adviento  nos preparamos espiritualmente para el nacimiento del Niño Rey,  imaginando a Dios, en forma humana, allí en el pesebre, porque esa fue la manera en la que el Señor ofreció la salvación al mundo. De esta encarnación tenemos mucho que aprender. Dios se revela en la sencillez del pesebre y no en la magnificencia del palacio.  Veamos pues a Dios en lo sencillo, en lo cotidiano, en lo vulnerable...

Aprovechemos el Adviento, y preparémonos para la Navidad abriendo nuestro corazón al Señor y llevando a toda criatura la buena noticia de que Dios está con nosotros. Dejemos atrás exclusiones, egoísmos, miedos, rencores y gocémonos en  la espera del nacimiento del Emanuel.

Oración: Ven a mi corazón ¡Oh Cristo!, ven, pues en el hay lugar para ti. Amén.
