JESUS, PATH OF LIFE

Luke 9: 57-62

… I will follow you wherever you go.

            Choosing a path is always complex. It implies leaving behind more tempting, comfortable and safe paths. He is a stranger, [the text tells us] without a name, who by his own choice decides to follow the path of Jesus, although without understanding the scope of such a decision. This leads us to recognize that anyone, without distinction, can do the same.

            Following Jesus today, as well as being a response of personal and radical faith, just as it was for that stranger, represents a single path. That path includes a life with very concrete ethical implications and positions. The ethics of Jesus prioritizes life in all its fullness, well-being, and dignity. So, the path leads us to contribute and collaborate so that other human beings can live fully.

            To go after Jesus today, following in his footsteps, is to share our lives, who we are. To say to Jesus today, I will follow you wherever you go is to leave behind the paths of rejection, condemnation, judgements, and exclusions. It is being willing to dialogue, live  together, collaborate, share, show solidarity and rejoice with those around us. This is the way to go if we want to follow Jesus!

 

Prayer: Guide us Jesus so that we are always on the paths of fullness and wellbeing.  Amen.

JESŪS, CAMINO DE VIDA

Lucas 9: 57-62

… te seguiré a donde quiera que vayas

Lucas 9: 57

            Escoger un camino siempre resulta complejo. Implica dejar atrás sendas más tentadoras, cómodas, seguras. Es un desconocido, sin nombre, quien por elección propia decide seguir el camino de Jesús, aunque al parecer sin comprender el alcance de tal decisión. No obstante, esto nos lleva a reconocer que toda persona, sin distinción, puede hacerlo.

            Así como lo fue para aquel desconocido, seguir a Jesús hoy, además de ser una respuesta de fe personal y radical, representa tomar un único camino que incluye una propuesta de vida con implicaciones y posicionamientos éticos bien concretos. La ética de Jesús prioriza la vida en toda su plenitud, bienestar y dignidad. Por tanto, nos conduce, desde nuestros espacios a contribuir y colaborar para que otros seres humanos, puedan vivir plenamente.

            Ir tras Jesús hoy, seguir sus pasos, es poner en común nuestras vidas, quienes somos. Decirle hoy a Jesús: te seguiré a donde quiera que vayas es dejar atrás los caminos que conducen al rechazo, a la condenación, a los juicios, a las exclusiones. Es estar en disposición a dialogar, convivir, colaborar, compartir, solidarizarnos y alegrarnos con quienes nos rodean. ¡Este es el camino a transitar si queremos seguir a Jesús!

 

Oración: Guíanos Jesús para estar siempre en tus caminos de plenitud y bienestar. Amén.
