LIKE CHILDREN

Mark 10: 13-15

Let the little children come to me and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.

Mark 10:14 (NRSV)

            These times cause faith to weaken, hope to succumb and we question ourselves about realizing the Kingdom that Jesus announced.

            If we want to reverse this feeling, we must return to the demand of Jesus where, to live the Kingdom, we must be like children who are always ready for tenderness, wonder, and curiosity. They know about loyalty, dreams, creativity and of the need to receive affection with total freedom. They have especially a deep confidence that allows them to believe in the supposedly impossible. In adulthood, we prioritize intellectual knowledge and rationality more, and allow ourselves to be carried away by selfish interests. 

            However, Jesus makes it clear that, to experience the Kingdom in our lives we need to be children. We must be committed to the stubbornness of being happy in the face of all counter-hope, giving and receiving love, using our creativity and imagination, providing the human beings that we are, without ceasing to do, but trusting deeply in God.

 

 Prayer: Father, let us trust in you like the little ones do. Amen.

COMO NIŇAS Y NIŇOS

Marcos 10: 13-15

Dejad que los niños vengan a mí, no se lo impidáis, porque de los que son como éstos es el Reino de Dios

Marcos 10:14

            Estos tiempos propician que la fe se debilite, que sucumba la esperanza y nos cuestionemos, en medio de tantas circunstancias difíciles, sobre la realización del Reino que Jesús anunció.

            Si queremos revertir este sentir, debemos retomar aquella exigencia de Jesús donde, para vivir el Reino, debemos ser como niños, quienes siempre están dispuestos a la ternura, al asombro, a la curiosidad. Saben de la lealtad, de los sueños, de la creatividad; también de la necesidad de dar y recibir afecto con total libertad, y especialmente tienen una confianza profunda que les permite creer en lo supuestamente imposible. En la adultez, priorizamos más el conocimiento intelectual y la racionalidad y nos dejamos llevar por intereses egoístas. 

            Sin embargo, Jesús lo aclara, para experimentar el Reino en nuestras vidas, necesitamos ser como las niñas y los niños, empeñarnos en la terquedad de ser felices frente a toda contra-esperanza, dando y recibiendo amor, usando nuestra creatividad e imaginación, disponiendo el ser humano que somos sin dejar de hacer, pero confiando profundamente en Dios.

 

Oración: Padre permítenos confiar en ti como lo hacen los más pequeñitos. Amén.
