ARE WE PREPARED FOR A VISIT BY JESUS?

LUKE   19:1-10

“Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy.  He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd.”

Luke 19:1-3

This passage tells us that Jesus was passing through a city and someone rich and powerful wanted to see him. If we knew today that Jesus would pass through our town or city, there would also be a lot of people running to see him. Many would drop what they were doing at the moment and would go out to meet him. But why only in a situation such as that and not in everyday life?  We Christians need to live life as if Jesus were passing in front of our homes this very day. The testimony of our lives should give us the authority to invite others to come and see Jesus. Sometimes our daily behavior is not the model that would make others want to seek Jesus. We should ask ourselves: Do my friends, my family and my neighbors see Jesus in my life?  People want to see Jesus in our lives…in the way that we treat them, in the way that we treat our spouse, our children, in the ways that we deal with difficult situations.  The Lord has placed many “Zacchaeuses” in our lives who wish for us to show Jesus to them.

Prayer: Help us, God, to live as if Jesus were coming today to visit our home, our neighborhood, our school, our workplace. Help us to show everyone that you live in our heart. Amen.

 ¿ESTAMOS PREPARADOS PARA LA VISITA DE JESÚS?

LUCAS   19:1-10

“Habiendo entrado Jesús en Jericó, iba pasando por la ciudad.  Y sucedió que un varón llamado Zaqueo, que era jefe de los publicanos y rico, procuraba ver quién era Jesús; pero no podía a causa de la multitud, porque era pequeño de estatura”

Lucas 19:1

Se dice en este pasaje que Jesús iba de paso por la ciudad y  alguien rico y con poder quería verlo. Si supiéramos que hoy Jesús pasaría por nuestro pueblo o ciudad también mucha gente correría para verlo. No pocos dejarían lo que estuvieran haciendo en ese momento y saldrían a su encuentro. Pero ¿por qué en una situación así y no en el diario vivir?  Los cristianos tenemos que vivir la vida como si Jesús estuviera pasando hoy mismo por el frente de nuestros hogares de manera que podamos, con el testimonio de nuestras vidas, tener la autoridad para invitar a otros a asomarse  para ver a Jesús. A veces nuestro comportamiento diario,  no es  el modelo que incitaría a otros a buscar a Jesús. Deberíamos preguntarnos: ¿ven mis amigos, familiares y vecinos a Jesús en mi  vida?  La gente quiere ver a Jesús en nuestras vidas.  En la forma que los tratamos, en la forma que tratamos a nuestra pareja, a nuestros hijos, en la forma que manejamos las situaciones difíciles. El Señor ha puesto muchos “Zaqueos” en nuestras  vidas que quieren que le mostremos a Jesús.

Oración: Dios, ayúdanos a vivir como si Jesús fuera a visitar nuestra  casa, nuestro barrio, nuestra escuela, nuestro trabajo hoy. Ayúdanos a mostrarles a todos que tú habitas en nuestro corazón. Amén
