Instead, you ought to say, “if it’s the Lord’s will,

An exceptional ship was built in 1912. The engineers who fabricated it and the owners bragged about it. It was, they said, the largest, the most powerful, the most beautiful and safest in the world. With great enthusiasm and nonchalance, the exclusive passengers boarded the liner. The builders were proud of their work. So certain were they of its virtues, that they didn’t believe it needed lifeboats sufficient for the number of people on board. They said, “Not even God can sink this ship.” It was the Titanic, and everyone knows the story in which more than twelve hundred people perished.

The human being cannot brag or boast about what he makes or does. God is omnipotent; only He can help us in fulfilling our works. We should always say, “If God so wills, we will achieve triumphs in our objectives. Only the Lord’s assistance can save us. With humility we should pray and ask that he accompany us in our struggles in this world.

Prayer:  May we always entrust ourselves to you on beginning each step of our lives, and humbly accept that it’s your will that prevails. Amen.

Si el Señor quiere

SANTIAGO 4: 13-16

Lo que deben decir es: Si el señor quiere,

viviremos y haremos esto y aquello.

Santiago 4:15

En 1912 fue construido un excepcional barco. Los ingenieros que lo fabricaron y sus propietarios se jactaban de ello. Era, decían, el más grande, el más potente, hermoso y seguro del mundo. Con gran entusiasmo y despreocupación los selectos pasajeros abordaron la nave. Sus constructores estaban orgullosos de su obra. Tan seguros estaban de sus virtudes que no creyeron necesario dotarlo del número de botes salvavidas correspondientes. Decían: A este barco no lo puede hundir ni Dios.

Se trataba del Titanic y todos sabemos esta historia en la que perecieron más de mil doscientas personas.

El ser humano no puede jactarse, ni vanagloriarse de lo que hace. Solo Dios es omnipotente. Sólo Él puede ayudarnos a realizar nuestras obras. Siempre debemos decir: Si Dios quiere lograremos triunfos en nuestros propósitos.

Solo la ayuda del Señor nos puede salvar. Con humildad debemos orar y pedirle que nos acompañe en nuestro bregar por este mundo.

Oración: Permite que siempre nos encomendemos a ti al emprender cada paso de nuestras vidas y aceptemos humildemente que sea tu voluntad la que prevalezca. Amén.
