RENEWAL

ROMANS 12: 2-4

So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away,

our inner nature is being renewed day by day.

II Corinthians 4: 16 (NRSV)

            Everything tends to wear out, languish, and become extinct. The firmest solid basalt rocks are broken by assault of the sea’s waves, and they leave their traces in the thin sand of the beaches.

           

            On the spiritual plane Paul speaks of a different reality: our body wears away, the law of life and nature is real and is fulfilled in us as well, but it does not necessarily happen in our soul. Deep in our being we can experience a continuous renewal that brings new forces and hopes.

            Along with the prophet Isaiah we can say that those who hope in God will have a new vigor, wings like eagles, strength without tiring for the race. God renews us always, if we allow it. We must have faith in God’s ability as an adept potter to shape our lives in his hands.

Prayer: Make us fit vessels for your use. May we feel your transforming power renewing our lives for your glory in the name of Jesus. Amen.

RENOVACIÓN

ROMANOS 12: 2-4

“Por eso no nos desanimamos. Pues aunque por fuera nos vamos deteriorando, por dentro nos renovamos día a día”

II Cor.4: 16

            Todo tiende a desgastarse, a languidecer y hasta extinguirse. Las más firmes y sólidas rocas basálticas son quebrantadas por el batallar de las olas del mar y dejan su huella en la fina arena de las playas.

            En el plano espiritual Pablo habla de una realidad diferente: nuestro cuerpo se desgasta, la ley de la vida y de la naturaleza es real y se cumple también en nosotros, pero no necesariamente ocurre así en nuestro interior, en lo profundo de nuestro ser podemos experimentar una continua renovación que trae nuevas fuerzas y esperanzas.

            Junto con el profeta Isaías se puede decir que los que esperan en Yahvé tendrán una nueva vitalidad, alas como águilas, fortaleza en la carrera sin cansancio. Dios nos renueva, siempre y cuando lo permitamos. Debemos confiar en la capacidad de Dios para que, como buen alfarero, moldee en sus manos nuestras vidas.

Oración: Haznos vasijas útiles en tus designios. Que sintamos tu poder transformador renovando nuestras vidas para tu gloria. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
