THE TRUE FAITH
HEBREWS 11:1-10
Now,
faith is confidence in what we hope for,
and assurance about what we do not see. (NIV)

Some years ago I
met a woman who had scarcely come to know the Gospel, when she had to face a
test in her life; and what struck me was that, in no moment did she stop
showing her absolute faith in Christ, and she herself said that in moments of
trial it was precisely when one should strive harder for God’s work.
Faith is only
found when we rest in the Lord. He will raise us victorious over our
difficulties. Many times we pretend to approach God with the objective of
feeling free from the problems life is accustomed to present us. When we think
this way we soon find ourselves totally frustrated since problems keep
appearing. God doesn’t free us from problems and difficulties; instead, he
gives us a new disposition regarding them.
The passage we
just finished reading enumerates a long list of events and characters who acted
and lived by faith. Perhaps this chapter is the writer’s best contribution to
the life of the church in his time. Amidst the problems of that nascent church,
nothing can have greater meaning than the chapter heading verse.
Prayer: Lord, accompany us
in the midst of our tribulations and pains. Amen.

LA FE VERDADERA
HEBREOS 11:1-10
Es pues la fe, la certeza de lo que se
espera, la convicción de lo que no se ve
Hebreos 11:1
Hace
algunos años conocí a una señora que apenas se había puesto en contacto con el
Evangelio, tuvo que afrontar una prueba en su vida. Me llamó la atención el
hecho de que en ningún momento dejó de mostrar su fe absoluta en Cristo; y se
decía ella misma que en momentos de prueba era precisamente cuando debía
trabajar más para la obra de Dios.
La fe
solo se encuentra cuando descansamos en el Señor. Él nos llevará victoriosos
por encima de nuestras dificultades. Muchas veces nosotros pretendemos
acercarnos a Dios con el propósito de sentirnos libres de los problemas que la
vida nos suele presentar. Cuando pensamos así, no tardamos en vernos frustrados
totalmente, ya que los problemas siguen apareciendo. Dios no nos libra de los
problemas y las dificultades, más bien nos da una nueva disposición frente a
los mismos.
El
pasaje que acabamos de leer enumera una larga lista de acontecimientos y de
personajes que actuaron y vivieron por la fe. Posiblemente este capítulo es la
mejor contribución del escritor a la vida de la iglesia en su tiempo. En medio
de los problemas de aquella naciente Iglesia, nada podía tener más alto
significado que el versículo que encabeza este capítulo.
Oración: Señor, acompáñanos en medio de nuestras tribulaciones y
penas. Amén.
