FIRM IN OUR PROFESSION

II PETER 1: 5-11

…Let us remain firm to the faith we profess.  (NIV)

Hebrews 4: 14b

Life is, on occasion, full of situations that can make people move away from their positions and concepts. Furthermore, in matters of faith, this implies dealing with what doesn’t fit within one’s preconceived and memorized schemes, but without internalizing them in a critical manner.                

In regards to our churches, they’ve seen people come and go who attend and apparently are upright in their faith, but then some detail occurs that they dislike, some behavior that they believe to be incorrect, and they take offense. Or possibly it’s events in life lacking explanation, and they feel God has not been in control of what’s happened.  

The epistles constantly stimulate us to maintain hope in our vocation without deviation. The author of the Letter to

the Hebrews insists that Jesus withstood the greatest conceivable trial, for which he obtained the recompense of finding himself at “the right hand of God.” This is the privilege of those who have remained faithful, and who have found strength amidst trials.

    

Prayer:  We come to ask you today, Lord, that you increase our faith, and that you keep us firm in our conviction so that our testimony reaches others. Amen.

FIRMES EN NUESTRA PROFESIÓN

II PEDRO 1: 5-11

“...Por eso debemos seguir firmes en la fe que profesamos”

Heb 4: 14b

            La vida está llena de situaciones que pueden en ocasiones hacer mover a las personas de sus posiciones y conceptos. En materia de fe esto implica además lidiar con lo que no encaja dentro de nuestros esquemas, preconcebidos y aprendidos de memoria, pero sin interiorizarlos de manera crítica.

            Por nuestras iglesias se han visto pasar personas que asisten, que al parecer marchan muy bien en el camino de la fe, pero entonces ocurre algún detalle por el que se disgustan, alguna acción que creyeron incorrecta y les dañó en lo personal, o también sucesos de la vida a los cuales no le encuentran una explicación y sienten que Dios no ha estado en control de las cosas ocurridas.

            Las epístolas nos estimulan constantemente a mantener sin fluctuar la esperanza de nuestra vocación. El autor de la carta a los hebreos insiste que el mismo Jesús soportó la mayor prueba concebible, por la cual ha obtenido la recompensa de hallarse “a la diestra de Dios”. Este es el privilegio de quienes se han mantenido fieles y han hallado fuerzas en medio de las pruebas.

Oración: Venimos a pedirte hoy, Señor, que aumentes nuestra fe y que nos mantengas firmes en nuestra convicción. Que nuestro testimonio alcance así a otros. Amén.
