THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Matthew 6:5-15

Your Kingdom come . . .

Mateo 6:10

            Parties fight each other politically for the control and government of peoples and nations. They also impose the greatest power they have: military power, and what is their ultimate power: the force of arms of destruction. But the government of nations is temporal and human with all of its limitations and weaknesses.

            That is why we think of God as the Creator and Sustainer of all that exists. God rules all of creation and exacts God’s inexorable will in all things and allows other humans to at times not be in accord with his providence. God allows this, giving humans the opportunity to cooperate with the divine will in the historical, progressive perfection of all creation.

            But let us not forget that God rules, reigns, and is Lord of Lords, King of Kings; that whether we like it or not, God’s will is realized because all of creation is God’s Kingdom, and He rules and will reign forever.

Prayer: Lord, I recognize you as my Lord and my sovereign King, and I want to be a faithful subject and a suitable servant who rejoices in the fulfillment of your will.  Your will be done in my life. Amen.

DE DIOS EL REINO

Mateo 6:5-15

Venga tu reino…

Mateo 6:10

            Los partidos luchan entre sí políticamente por el mando y el gobierno de los pueblos y naciones. Y se impone el que más poder tiene: poder militar; y el que más fuerza tiene: la fuerza de las armas de destrucción. Pero el gobierno de las naciones es temporal y humano, con todas sus limitaciones y flaquezas.

            Por eso pensamos en Dios como el Creador y el Sustentador de cuanto existe. Dios gobierna todo lo creado y hace su voluntad inexorable en algunas cosas, y permite al ser humano otras, que  a veces no están  de acuerdo con su providencia. Pero se las permite, dándole la oportunidad de cooperar con la voluntad divina en el desarrollo histórico, progresivo y perfecto de la creación entera.

            Pero no olvidemos que Dios gobierna, que Él reina y que es el Señor de Señores, el Rey de Reyes; que nos guste o no, su voluntad se hace porque toda la creación es su Reino y Él reina y reinará por los siglos de los siglos.

Oración: Señor, te reconozco  como mi Señor y mi Rey soberano, y yo quiero ser un súbdito fiel y un siervo idóneo que se goce en el cumplimiento de tu voluntad. Hágase pues tu voluntad en mi vida. Amén.
