ALWAYS THE GOOD!
ROMANS 12:9-21
“Don’t be defeated by evil, but defeat evil with good.”
Romans 12:21 (CEB)
I have the conviction that the biblical passages are like red lights that oblige us to stop and react before the challenge that we encounter. An example of that is found in chapter 12 of Paul’s letter to the Romans, which contains advice that exhort us to live a new life in Christ, with the currency of always doing good.
I propose to you that as a part of this meditation, we make a list with all the recommendations that appear in the text, which form a part of the code of ethics that summons us to be embraced by Christianity. Let us think about each of them, and let us ask ourselves what we lack to fulfill them. The answer requires that we do not lose the view of the actions that we should undertake with this purpose, which have to be in the midst of the good.

It is not enough to say “yes, until now I have been a good person toward others”. But, and the good that we have left to do? I have the challenge to live a Christian life with responsibility: to do good to others is the only way to do good to God. (1 John 4:12)
Prayer: Lord, allow us to live a Christian life with responsibility to overcome the bad with the good. Amen.

¡SIEMPRE EL BIEN!

“No permitamos que nos venza el mal. Es mejor vencer al mal con el bien”.

Tengo la convicción de que los pasajes bíblicos son como luces rojas que nos obligan a detenernos y reaccionar ante el desafío que nos presentan. Un ejemplo de ello lo constituye el capítulo doce de la carta de Pablo a los romanos, la cual contiene consejos que nos exhortan a vivir una nueva vida en Cristo, con la divisa de hacer siempre el bien.
Les propongo que como parte de esta meditación, confeccionemos una lista con todas las recomendaciones que aparecen en el texto, las cuales forman parte del código de ética a que nos convoca el haber abrazado el cristianismo. Pensemos en cada una de ellas, y preguntémonos qué nos falta para cumplirlas. La respuesta requiere que no perdamos de vista las acciones que debemos emprender con este propósito, las cuales tienen que estar mediadas por el bien.
No basta con decir “sí, hasta ahora yo he sido una persona buena con los demás”. Pero, ¿y el bien que hemos dejado de hacer? He aquí el reto de vivir una vida cristiana con responsabilidad: hacer el bien a los demás es la única forma de hacerle el bien a Dios (I Jn 4:12).
Oración: Señor, permite que podamos vivir una vida cristiana con la responsabilidad de vencer al mal con el bien. Amén.
