IN PLEASANT COMPANY

John 13:1-15

I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Once again, we are united as a community to remember every moment lived by Jesus on his way to the cross.

In times of worry or pain, Jesus wants to be close to his friends around the table. Jesus wants not only to show the affection and the respect he feels for those around him, but to show once more, the path of humility and service that he expects them to follow.

Many times, during our difficult moments, we isolate ourselves and distance ourselves from those who want the best for us. We prefer to be alone, without realizing that this hurts us more. Jesus knew that the best way to resist this was to be accompanied by others. At the same time, he took the opportunity to continue promoting the understanding of his message among his disciples. By washing the feet of his friends, Jesus is leaving a clear message about the purpose of life: it is not the pretenses of greatness, false pride, or self-sufficiency that are the way to the Kingdom, but rather of humility, service, tenderness and kindness towards those around us.

Even at death’s door, Jesus leaves us one of the most beautiful messages of the Gospel. Surround yourself with good people and always show them your respect and kindness.

 

Prayer: God, fill us with your humility. May we always be able to sit around the table with friends. Amen.

EN GRATA COMPAÑÍA

Juan 13:1-15

Porque les he puesto el ejemplo, para que lo mismo que yo he hecho con ustedes, ustedes también lo hagan.

Juan 13:15

Una vez más nos unimos como comunidad para recordar cada momento vivido por Jesús en su camino hacia la cruz.

En momentos de preocupación, de dolor, Jesús quiere estar cerca de sus amigas y amigos, alrededor de la mesa. Jesús quiere mostrar no solo el afecto, el respeto que siente por quienes le rodean sino, mostrar una vez más, el camino de humildad y servicio que espera que sigan.

Muchas veces en nuestros momentos difficiles, nos aislamos, nos alejamos de quienes nos quieren bien, preferimos estar en soledad, sin pensar que eso nos daña más. Jesús sabfia que la mejor manera de resistir ese tiempo, era precisamente acompañado. Al mismo tiempo, aprovecha para seguir ayudando a la compresión de su mensaje entre sus discfipulos. Al lavar los pies a sus amigos, Jesús está dejando una clara enseñanza sobre su propuesta de vida, no son las pretensiones de grandeza, los falsos orgullos, las autosuficiencias el camino hacia el Reino, sino la humildad, el servicio, la ternura y bondad hacia quienes nos rodean.

A las puertas de la muerte, Jesús nos deja uno de los mensajes más hermoso del Evangelio. Rodéate siempre de personas de bien y muéstrales siempre tu respeto y bondad

 

Oración: Dios llenamos de tu humildad. Permite que siempre podamos sentarnos alrededor de la mesa con amigas y amigos. Amén.
