WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6

HEART, NOT REASON.

Matthew 5: 17-19

Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.

The presence of Jesus of Nazareth in every town, village, road, home or urban area was a trigger for the gathreing of people and their encounter with mystery, for the practice of the teachings about the Reign of God, for immobilizing the dishonest-tocritic attitudes of the oppressive powers and exalt the “little ones.” What was established? To what law and what prophets was Jesus referring? What laws and what prophets would not be abolished? How would the law be fulfilled? Which words of the prophets should be listened to?

As so many other times, Jesus expresses that everyday events–lived minute by minute–hold so much richness that they should not be mutilated by the coldness of the law that dominates and subjugates. In his words, Jesus comments on the alignment of the law of God with the proclamation of the prophets! But, only the divine law that does not reason, but rather dignifies the human being, which is justice and freedom! Only the full and joy-filled life that announces the true prophets of God! For the followers of Christ, “what is established” is synonymous with the coherence of love, and living the experience of the Glorious Kingdom of God, here and now.

Lent invites us to journey with hearts not reason determining our steps.

 

Prayer: May we be able in this Lent to feel more strongly the beat of our hearts complying lovingly with all that you have entrusted us. May we be able to be the prophetic voice of your people who proclaim hope, freedon, and the revelation of your light in this land. Amen.

CORAZONAR, NO RAZONAR.

Mateo 5: 17-19

No penséis que he venido para abrogar la ley o los profetas; no he venido para abrogar sino para cumplir.

La presencia de Jesús de Nazaret en cada pueblo, aldea, camino, hogar o zona urbana, era un detonante para la aglomeración de personas y su encuentro con el misterio; para la práctica de las enseñanzas del Reino de Dios; para inmovilizar las actitudes deshones-tócritas de los poderes opresores y, exaltar a los más "pequeños". ¿Qué estaba establecido? ¿A qué ley y a qué profetas hacía referencia Jesús? ¿Qué leyes y qué profecías no serían abolidas? ¿Cómo se daría cumplimiento a la      ley? ¿Cuáles anuncios de los profetas escuchar?

Como otras tantas veces, Jesús expresa que el acontecer cotidiano -vivido minuto a minuto- guarda tanta riqueza que no debe ser mutilada por la frialdad de la ley que domina y sojuzga. ¡Jesús comenta en sus palabras la anuencia con la ley de Dios y la proclamación de los profetas! Pero, ¡sólo la ley divina que no razona, sino que dignifica al ser humano; que es justicia y libertad! ¡Sólo la vida plena y gozosa que anuncian los verdaderos profetas de Dios! Para las/os seguidoras/es de Cristo, "lo establecido" es sinónimo de la coherencia del amor; y vivir la experiencia del Reino Glorioso de Dios, aquí y ahora.

¡Cuaresma invita a corazonar nuestros caminos; no a razonar nuestros pasos!

Oración: Que podamos en esta Cuaresma, Señor, sentir con más fuerza el latir de nuestros corazones para cumplir con amor todo lo que nos has encomendado. Que podamos ser la voz profética de tu pueblo, quien proclama esperanza, libertad y la revelación de tu luz en esta tierra. Amén.
