COVENANT OF FAITHFULNESS

Ezekiel 37: 21-28

My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Ezekiel 37:27 NIV

The Bible is full of God’s promises to humanity. It speaks of unity, faithfulness, peace, salvation and obedience. However, God’s people insist on showing themselves divided and every day there are more wars and divisions in claiming the legitimacy of the “chosen people.” Since biblical times there were differences between the tribes of Israel and Judah, which are still visible in our days. But what about our people–was Cuba not in God’s plans?

I imagine that we should not see Israel as a geographical place. I think that has been the mistake that has led mankind to so much war and destruction. Israel is more than just a location; it is about a much broader meaning. Israel means “he who wrestles with God.”

In verse 21 it says that God will gather them from everywhere to lead them to his land, and further on it states that there will be no more divisions. So, why do we insist on dividing? Is it so difficult to follow the teachings of Jesus to live in harmony, respect, and obedience to God? If our struggle is with God, then... let us fight for life..

 

Prayer: God of infinite mercy, allow us to live as one people, and to always experience your presence in the midst of our people. Amen.

PACTO DE FIDELIDAD

Ezequiel 37: 21-28

Mi morada estará junto a ellos, seré su Dios y ellos seránmi pueblo.

Ezequiel 37:27

La Biblia está llena de promesas de Dios hacia la humanidad. Habla de unidad, de fidelidad, de paz, de salvación, y obediencia. Sin embargo el pueblo de Dios se empeña en mostrarse dividido y cada dia son más las guerras y divisiones en reclamo de la legitimidad del “pueblo escogido.” Desde los tiempos biblicos existian las diferencias entre las tribus de Israel y Judá, que aún son visibles en nuestros dias. Pero, ¿qué hay de nuestro pueblo? ¿Acaso Cuba no estaba en los planes de Dios?

Imagino que no debemos ver Israel como un lugar geográfico. Creo que ese ha sido el error que ha llevado a la humanidad a tanta guerra y destrucción. Israel es más que una simple ubicación, se trata de un significado mucho más amplio. Israel significa “el que lucha con Dios”.

En el verso 21 dice que Dios les congregará de todas partes para conducirles a su suelo, y más adelante afirma que ya no volverán a existir divisiones. Entonces, ¿por qué nos empeñamos en dividir? ¿Será que es tan dificil seguir las enseñanzas de Jesús para vivir en armonia, respeto, y obediencia a Dios? Si nuestra lucha es con Dios, entonces... luchemos por la vida.

Oración: Dios de infinita misericordia, permite que podamos vivir como un solo pueblo, y que podamos experimentar siempre tu presencia en medio de nuestros pueblos. Amén.
