WHAT WE ARE AFRAID OF?

REVELATION 6:15-17

“Jesus…rescues us from the coming wrath.”

1 Thessalonians 1:10

Human behavior is marked by fear from childhood on: fear of the big bad wolf, the dark, thunder…As adults we have other fears:  of death, of illness, of unemployment…

But have you noticed the general indifference to other fears which are no less terrible?  The greatest dangers that threaten us are those that put the eternal future of our souls into play.  How can we remain indifferent in face of such dangers? Are we aware that when we depart from this life, our eternal condition will be determined in an irreversible manner?  What we should fear is living a life without God. While we are on this earth, God invites us to accept Jesus as our Savior and accepting him means following him in the pathway of faith and in commitment to his kingdom of peace and righteousness. Did you know that for those who believe in Jesus, God does much more than adopt them as sons and daughters?

Once we have accepted Jesus, we can count on his peace, his favor, and his blessings.

Prayer: Lord, turn our fear into the joy of following you.  Allow us to walk in your pathways today and always. Amen.

¿DE QUÉ TENEMOS MIEDO?

APOCALIPSIS 6:15-17

“Jesús… nos libra de la ira venidera”

1 Tesalonicenses 1:10

Desde la infancia, el comportamiento de las personas está  marcado por el miedo: al lobo, a la oscuridad, a los truenos... Los adultos tenemos otros miedos: a la muerte, a las enfermedades, al desempleo...

Pero ¿se ha fijado en la indiferencia generalizada ante otros peligros no menos temibles?

Los mayores  peligros que nos amenazan son los que ponen en juego el futuro eterno de nuestra alma. ¿Cómo podemos permanecer indiferentes ante ellos? ¿Somos conscientes de que cuando dejemos esta vida, nuestra condición eterna estará determinada de modo irreversible? A lo que deberíamos tener miedo es a vivir una vida sin Dios.

Mientras estamos en la tierra, Dios nos invita a aceptar a Jesús como nuestro Salvador y aceptarlo significa seguirle en el camino de la fe y el compromiso con su reino de paz y justicia.  ¿Sabía usted que para  aquellos que creen en Jesús, Dios  hace mucho más que adoptarlos como hijos o hijas?

Una vez que aceptamos a Jesús podemos contar con su paz, su favor y sus bendiciones.

Oración: Señor, convierte nuestro miedo en el gozo por seguirte. Permítenos andar en tus caminos hoy y siempre. Amén.
