LOVE OF LIFE

PSALM 100

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

John 10:10b

Each February 14^th we remember the importance of love among spouses, family, and friends. But today I want to invite you to reflect on love of life, that marvelous gift that God has given us and that we should safeguard with an attitude of responsibility and gratitude.

We sometimes think that our problems, our personal or family crises are keeping us from living life to the fullest. But it is rather our defeatist and despairing attitude in the face of those problems that leads us to live an existence burdened with indifference and bitterness.

Sisters and brothers, there will always be problems, but the way we look at these situations should be filled with hope, faith, and thankfulness to God, because nothing compares with the fact of being alive, surrounded by the warmth of our people and those are the blessings that God bestows upon us. Today’s exhortation is to love life and to celebrate it, even when you think that you have no reason to do so.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for the marvelous gift of life, for the things that we can enjoy each minute of our existence, for the harmony of your creation, for good food, for the affection of our loved ones, for pleasant fragrances, for the rain, for the warmth of the sun…for all of the many things that speak of your love, thank you, Lord.

EL AMOR POR LA VIDA

SALMO 100

“Y yo he venido para que tengan vida,

y para que la tengan en abundancia”

Juan 10:10b

Cada catorce de febrero recordamos la importancia del amor a la pareja, a la familia, a los amigos. Pero hoy quiero invitarlos a reflexionar en el amor a la vida, ese regalo maravilloso que Dios nos ha dado y que debemos cuidar con una actitud responsable y agradecida.

A veces creemos que son los problemas, las crisis personales o familiares, las que no nos dejan  vivir una vida plena. Pero más bien es nuestra actitud derrotista y desesperanzada ante estos problemas la que nos lleva a vivir una existencia cargada de desamor y amargura.

Hermanas y hermanos, problemas siempre van a existir, pero nuestra mirada a estas situaciones debe ser esperanzadora, llena de fe y agradecimiento a Dios, porque nada se compara con el hecho de estar vivos, rodeados del calor de nuestra gente y esas son bendiciones que Dios nos da.

La exhortación hoy es a amar la vida y celebrarla, aún cuando crees que no tienes motivos para hacerlo.

Oración: Gracias Dios, por el regalo maravilloso de la vida, por las cosas que podemos disfrutar en cada minuto de nuestra existencia, por la armonía de tu creación, por las buenas comidas, por el cariño de nuestros seres queridos, por los agradables olores, por la lluvia, por el sol cálido... por tantas y tantas cosas que hablan de tu amor, gracias Señor.
