LIKE A CHILD

MATTHEW 18:10-14

“Take care that you do not despise one of these little ones…”

Matthew 18:10

Jesus was teaching amidst the multitude when they brought him some children; but his disciples tried to push them away from Him. An indignant Jesus then exclaimed, “Let the little children come to me, do not hinder them!”

Once more, Jesus is giving lessons of inclusivity, tolerance and love to those following him. On this and other occasions, Jesus’ disciples were trying to “care for” and “protect him” from annoyances and interruptions. It’s because they’re still missing the point of the Master’s priorities; they didn’t understand the different manner Jesus had when relating to others surrounding him.

We too need to learn that lesson of being relevant, pertinent, and to give each thing its due importance. We shouldn’t be stumbling stones in God’s plans, and in the definitive manifestation of his kingdom.

Thus, let us be conduits, so others may equally come to him; let us extend the message of salvation to all creatures without distinction; let us intensify our love and care to all; and most especially to our children, being conscious that “of them is the Kingdom of God.”

Prayer:  Thank you, Lord, for our children. Make us perceptive and discerning with them. Bless them always.  Amen.

COMO UN  NIÑO

MATEO 18:10-14

“No menospreciéis a uno de estos pequeños…”

Mateo 18:10

Jesús enseñaba en medio de una multitud cuando le trajeron unos niños, pero sus discípulos trataban de alejarlos de Él. Entonces Jesús indignado, exclamó: “¡Dejad a los niños venir a mí, y no se lo impidáis!”

Una vez más Jesús da lecciones de inclusividad, tolerancia y amor a quienes le seguían. En esta y otras ocasiones los discípulos de Jesús pretendían “cuidarlo”, “protegerlo” de molestias y pérdidas de tiempo. Es que ellos aún no tenían claro cuáles eran las prioridades para su Maestro, no entendían la manera diferente que Jesús tenía de relacionarse con quienes le rodeaban.

También a nosotros nos hace falta aprender esa lección de ser atinados, pertinentes, dar la importancia verdadera a cada cosa. No debemos ser piedra de tropiezo en los planes de Dios y la manifestación definitiva de su reino. Así, propiciemos más bien que lleguen hasta él todos y todas por igual, acerquemos el mensaje de salvación a toda criatura sin distinciones. Intensifiquemos nuestro amor y cuidado para con todos, y muy particularmente a nuestros niños y niñas, estando conscientes de que: “...de ellos es el Reino de los cielos”.

Oración: Gracias Señor, por  nuestros niños y niñas.  Haznos sensibles y profundos como ellos. Bendícelos siempre. Amén.
