CREATED AND FORMED BY LOVE
Jeremiah 18:1-6
But the pot he was shaping from the clay
was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it
as seemed best to him.
Jeremiah 18:4
There is a beautiful lesson in this
illustration. The potter has control of
the process for creating a pot. He
judges what is good to make, and he will determine when it is finished.
He knows what it will be good for and will
work it until he is satisfied that it can serve a purpose. The potter achieves
this with the use of a kind of pedal that is moved by his foot in to make the
wheel turn, giving shape to the clay. It is the relationship of the contact
between the creator and the creation that produces a useful pot. We should
remember that for the clay to be transformed, it needs to remain pliant.
As is the case with the potter, God has a
purpose for us. He can use life’s
circumstances that are constantly changing to shape us. If we remain docile, He can continue to work
in us to perfect us for what He wants us to be.
Let us turn these verses of a beautiful
hymn into reality:
“Lord, make of me what you may:
You are the potter, I am the clay…”
Prayer: Good and gracious God, creator and architect of the
universe, use our daily activities to make us into worthy recipients who
conserve and share your love with others. Amen.

CREADO Y FORMADO
POR AMOR
JEREMÍAS 18:1-6
Y la vasija de
barro que el alfarero hacía se echó a perder
en su mano. Y
volvió y la hizo otra vasija,
según le pareció mejor
hacerla.
Jeremías 18:4
Hay una hermosa
lección en esta ilustración. El alfarero tiene control del proceso al crear una
vasija. Lo que juzgue bien hacer, determinará cuando quede terminada.
Él sabe para qué
servirá y trabajará hasta quedar satisfecho de que podrá ser útil.
El alfarero logra
esta tarea con el uso de una especie de pedal que mueve con el pie para hacer
girar el torno, dándole forma al barro. Es esta relación de contacto entre el
creador y lo creado, lo que produce una vasija útil. Debemos recordar que para
que el barro pueda ser transformado debe mantenerse blando.
Así como el
alfarero, Dios tiene un propósito para nosotros. Él puede utilizar las
circunstancias de la vida que constantemente cambian para darnos forma. Si nos
mantenemos dóciles, Él puede continuar trabajando en nosotros para
perfeccionarnos en aquello que quiere que seamos.
Hagamos realidad
los versos de este hermoso himno:
“Haz lo que quieras
de mí Señor
Tú el alfarero, yo
el barro soy…”
Oración: Dios bueno,
creador y artífice del universo, usa las actividades diarias para hacer de
nosotros un recipiente merecedor de conservar y compartir tu amor a otros y
otras. Amén.
