DO NOT FEAR THEM
EZEKIEL 2:1-8
And
you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words.
Do not
be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you
and you
live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say
or be
terrified by them…
Ezekiel 2:6
Faced with an obdurate multitude, Ezekiel hears God telling him not to be
fearful, even though the turmoil and opposition may be great.
Fear is a very natural emotion. We all feel fear before a threatening
situation. There are fears that are healthy and necessary, and there are also
disconcerting fears. When we confront some type of danger and are at the point
of losing our lives, we seek desperately to defend ourselves. This class of
fear is our mechanism of defense and preservation. Other fears are produced by
a guilty conscience when we are aware that we have disobeyed God.
The Bible says, “Do not fear.” In a world of so much evil, not living
beneath the shadow of fear is very difficult. Those of us who believe and hope
in God should not fear or despair. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, says to us, “In this
world you will have affliction; but take heart! I have conquered the world.”
(John 16:33)
Prayer: Lord, we pray to you to ask for refuge and
help when fear stalks us. Allow us to conquer our fears with the force of your
love. Amen.

EZEQUIEL 2:1-8
Y tú, hijo de hombre, no
les temas, ni tengas miedo de sus palabras, aunque te hallas entre zarzas y
espinos, y moras con escorpiones, no tengas miedo de sus palabras, ni temas
delante de ellos…
Ezequiel 2:6
Frente a la multitud que endurece su oído,
Ezequiel oye a Dios que le dice que no tenga miedo aunque sean grandes los
tumultos y la oposición.
El temor es un sentimiento muy natural. Todos
sentimos temor ante una situación amenazante. Hay temores que son saludables y
necesarios y también hay temores desconcertantes. Cuando enfrentamos algún tipo
de peligro y estamos a punto de perder la vida, con desesperación buscamos
defendernos. Esa clase de temor es nuestro mecanismo de defensa y prevención.
Otros temores los produce una conciencia culpable cuando somos conscientes que
hemos desobedecido a Dios.
La Biblia dice: No temas. En un mundo de
tanta maldad se hace muy difícil no vivir bajo la sombra del temor. Quienes
creemos y esperamos en Dios no debemos temer, ni desesperar. Nuestro Señor
Jesucristo nos dice: En el mundo tendréis aflicción; pero confiad, yo he
vencido al mundo.
Oración: Señor, oramos a ti para pedir refugio y auxilio
cuando nos aceche el temor. Permite que podamos vencer nuestros miedos con la
fuerza de tu amor. Amén.
